Default Pearl necklace broke in half.. HELP!!!!

I purchased a pearl necklace from the Chanel store in Taipei around 1-2 years ago, its opened so you tie it in the middle and it hangs down with two cc charms at the ends. But i accidentally tugged too hard on the necklace and it broke in half. Do you know if the South Coast store will fix it for free? Or do you think I probably have to pay to get if fixed? The string broke in half in the middle.

Chanel will not fix it for free if it was accidently broken. If it was a defect, then that's a different story. Even then, after 1-2 years of purchase, I don't believe they will fix it for free.

no, i barely tugged on it , the string just ripped in the middle when i was trying to untie the knot. =[ but my cousin has the same necklace and she said two of the little pearls on the cc fell off. So i guess its not common for it to break.. But i found a picture of it:

its just a long openned strand of pearls and you tie a knot in the middle.. except mine is now in two peices. =[

They need to be restrung, but I would let Chanel know that you were undoing the knot and it broke, it's not like you tugged extremely hard on it. Let them know it broke under nornal wear.

i'm sure Chanel at SCP will help you fix it, they're very good about that stuff.

though, i personally don't think it was supposed to be tied in a knot. i remember seeing this on the mannequin, it was supposed to be looped through like in the picture you showed, much like how some people wear their scarves.

i think that if you wear it like that, looped through instead of tied, you'll have a greatly lesser chance of it breaking, since all the pearls don't get tangled up in each other.

i have their pearl necklkace as well, its kind of a joke, i had some small pearls coming off the CC charm, brought it back to get it fixed, they fixed it right away on the spot with effing super glue !!! i was so grossed out for paying 800 on super glue and faux pearls
anyways they told me that theres been problems with pieces falling out on costume jewelry and that is why they have replacement pieces to fix on the spot.

at least the pearls are not plastic plastic since the lady told me, it is glass beads coated with the osyter's lacquer sheen or smth but yeah i heard from someone that the SA at chanel all laugh at chanel's costume jewelry quality cause it sucks =S

I posted recently about my charms necklace losing small pearls/ diamonte for the second time and I only had the necklace since jan- it's been to Paris more than I have! I agree the quality is shoddy for the price.

This argument about Chanel costume jewelry being too expensive is getting so old for me. Absolutely everything from Chanel is expensive so why should the costume jewelry be any different? Simply put, we are paying for the exclusivity of the Chanel logo. Would you really want it to be so cheap that almost anyone could afford? Chanel costume jewelry is still considered luxury items.
I'm sorry your pearls broke. I would take them to a boutique and see what they can do for you. It is a beautiful strand of pearls. Good luck to you!

vhdos my issue is with the quality and not the price. I have no issue in paying ££££ for bags as i know the quality is great and I will have no issues.
I do however object to paying money for a necklace I cannot wear as bits come off it and it spends more time being repaired than i have had it for. It seems a lot of folks here have reason to complain about the quality of the jewellery and frankly Chanel should be able to get it right regardless of price.

I have 6 pairs of earrings, a silver necklace, a 35" strand of pearls, and a bracelet - all Chanel costume jewelry. I wear the silver necklace every day (in the shower and at night when I'm sleeping). The only time I ever take it off is to wear my Chanel pearls or to wear my diamond solitaire necklace (not Chanel). I have never had any quality issues with any of it. I know it happens though and I am sorry for those of you who have had issues. I was referring specifically to those who complain about the price of Chanel costume jewelry.
