My new dark silver 228! Posed next to 2006 dark gold 227.

I've been waiting for the right shade of silver and this is the one for me!! And in my fav size 228!!! When I got the dark gold in 2006 I wanted it larger but it only came in the old 227 size. The 228 is perfect on my 6ft frame. It is comparablein size to other bags I like to carry for after-five/evening use and I do not feel it it too big...at least not at my stature. It is big enough to have room for everyday use as well unlike my jumbo classic flaps. I like the new shiny clasp versus the old antiqued clasp. I like the new thicker/puffier leather. It feels like a much more substantial bag than the 2006 version. I like the heavier thicker chain strap. This does add to the weight but as a large bag lover I never have qualms with bag weight issues. Plus I eat my Wheaties and lift weights :) The colors on my two 2.55s are definitely different but I wonder if it is worth keeping both metallic Chanels? I have a bimetal Fendi Spy and a gold Jimmy Choo rio oversized clutch so I am wondering if I have a few too many metallics now. For reference the rest of the Chanel collection contains: classic flaps in black patent, red caviar, purple lambskin, white caviar and pink caviar. Black w/ white CC cambon flap. Red, black and white modern chain totes. Black caviar GST and brown calfskin?lambskin? GST. Any input is appreciated!

I am definitely loving the new dark silver compared to the dark gold. I had a 06 dark gold 227 which I let go and I have no regrets about it at all. I think the new dark silver is so much more versatile

Sounds to me like that 227 Gold has seen its day. You have plenty of other gold bags so send it off to a new home.............. Then, you can look for the next new one,instead!!

I think all your metallics are different shades so they are all useable in different ways. But I think as you own the dark silver for longer you can see whether out of all your metallics you keep on reaching for the same ones over and over. If there are 1 or 2 that are being neglected then you know your have some overlap and the unused ones could be let go (if that is really what you want to do).

I think the 2.55's are very different and you should keep both of them. I also think the Choo clutch is a keeper b/c it is an evening bag. If I was to get rid of any one, it would be the spy. I love the spy's b/c of the size, but I like shoulder straps. I think the Chanel's are diverse enough to fit your needs and are both classic in their own right.

If you don't need to get rid of anything, don't.

The dark silver is so gorgeous! I still want one too but I need to restrain myself a bit after the purple and navy.

and i love the dark gold 07 as much as i love the 08 dark silver, i say keep them both, unless u have another chanel bag that really2 in need for serious funding!

Thanks ladies for the tips! I just may keep them all. Dark silver and gold Choo are definitely keepers for life. The gold spy is a bit more casual to me than the others.

I have a light gold metallic 227 from last year and also just got the 228 silver, I think you should really keep the dk gold 227. it is a wee bit smaller and looks great for dressier cocktail parties or with a summer dress for evenings out. I lvoe that bi-metal fendi-spy, been thinking about that one too, actaully I love all your metallics and think you should keep them all. they really serve different functions/purposes! But I think my new favorite is the 228 silver, I jsut really think this color can work for day since it's more muted than last year's silvers! enjoy, what a fabulous collection!
