Default Jumbo Flap or Jumbo XL???

There might have been a previous thread about this topic, but I think I'm blind and I can't find it - so if this is a duplicate thread - re-direction to the original thread would be great!

I have decided to purchase either the jumbo or jumbo XL in black - but I don't know which one would be better. I NEED DIRECTON!!!!

I know that the jumbo is 12" wide and the XL is about 14" wide - but which one do you think can I use more?

I tend to carry my whole life with me! I have work files, magazines, my ginormous wallet, makeup for touchups on the subway, etc, etc. And if you dig far enough, you'll probably find some of my son's Matchbox cars and fruit snacks!!!

Also I travel a lot - I'm back and forth from Cleveland and NYC all the time - so I would like to purchase a bag that is versatile as well as not going to look ridiculous!

Let me know what you tPFers think?!? I'm so lost!!

I really like the jumbo XL I can fit my everything in there PLUS lunch! But if you travel a lot, maybe getting the jumbo in caviar will be better, since I don't think they make the XL in caviar?

I have both and I cannot see either holding magazines, files or the such....for the use you describe I believe you needed a bigger bag and easier to get in and out.......there are some large totes featured in the reference library......H

^^ You can't buy the XL Jumbo's at the boutique anymore because they have been discontinued years ago. Vintage Jumbo's and XL Jumbo's can be found on eBay or at consignment stores.

i think that the difference of size in both bags is not that significant, just that maybe you would want to get a tote instead or if you measure your actual bag were you fit everything and kinda compare it these two options it might help.

I was responding to ci7h2ino4's question

I used to own both XL and normal Jumbo. The XL is really huge and if you tend to carry your whole life with you, then this might be the perfect bag for you. Just keep in mind that the XL is pretty heavy by itself, mostly because of the heavy chains.

The normal Jumbo also can fit a lot.

Is your heart set on a Jumbo flap? Because a large tote, like the GST for instance, would also be very suitable in your case.

I had this same question when I was considering a vintage jumbo. I already own a normal jumbo w/ SH (black) and wanted the vintage Jumbo in black (b/c I love the hardware on this bag) but couldn't decide btw XL or L.
I'm vertically challenged (5'3") and petite, so I went with the Jumbo instead of the XL. It's the perfect size for my needs and still looks very different from the normal black Jumbo I already owned. As another tPFer put it " the vintage is more blingy" b/c of the hardware. And I totally agree.
They're great bags, but I think it depends on your needs and your frame. There are tons of other threads on this topic (search Vintage Jumbo XL). And, Nicole Richie pimps out her XL and she's tiny, so it really depends on what you're looking for. (search Nicole Richie Jumbo Chanel)
I hope this helps. I know I was really going back and forth b/c I wasn't able to see them IRL either.
And by the way, I'm in love with vintage bags now! It's so addicting! Just be sure to authenticate here before you purchase. eBay can be scary!

I love my jumbo XL, however, this is definitely not big enough to put in magazines or your work files.

Beautylicious - I love your posts! They are so informative!

Thanks everyone for all the comments!

I looked at the GST (as Beautylicious suggested) and I like it. I guess I never really realized how big it was!

My 4 year old son likes the GST because he likes the big "CC" on it! He's my little fashion consultant and he's darn good!
