Default Heartbroken! My beloved Chanel distressed black 228 was stolen from Chanel!

Last month, I brought my favourite Chanel, a distressed black 228 with m/m lock, to Chanel for a repair. The rivets had become loose.

Today, I got this email:

Dear Mrs. XXXX,

Today I tried to call you, but there was nobody at home.

Hereby I like to tell you that we had a rob at our transport company truck.
On the way to our store, to deliver the new collection, we had a hold up and 15 boxes were stolen included 2
boxes with customers repairs.

On the 5th of may you send a bag for repararation, and the bag is stolen as well.
We are very sorry to give you the bad news.
We tried to relocate the bag but this model is everywhere sold out.

The email goes on to say that they will replace the bag with another that they have in stock at any Chanel boutique, which is great, but it just doesn't replace my favourite

Thanks for letting me vent!

Oh Siri! I am so sorry to hear that
Can't believe you were so lucky (unlucky??!) that the thieves managed to take your bag in the hold up that must suck!
Ahh it's good that they will be able to replace it, but IMO it's not 'the' one and won't be the same.
Good luck and I hope you will be able to get another one soon!

OMG! So sorry to hear that Siri. Can you get a refund and maybe get one from eBay?

You poor thing!

I don't mean this to come out the wrong way but - some of the english in that email sounds a bit odd to me? I don't know if maybe you were just writing it out quickly or something but if that is word for word what the email said - is it definitely genuine? I only ask because I have had hoax emails from paypal etc in the past and the english wasn't too great on those either!

If it is definitely genuine, then I really feel for you.

Was this the exact text of the e-mail? You'd think that they would make fewer English errors in an 'official' store e-mail, especially when it's on such a serious subject.

And... does the e-mail end just like that? Surely they owe you other compensation.

This is so odd.

Or maybe this wasn't in the US?

The Chanel boutique is not in the USA, so english is their second language. I called the Chanel boutique and confirmed everything, so yes it's true.

Thanks Joanni! Yes, very unlucky that my bag was in that delivery!

Aurora: I know what you mean, but have a feeling MY bag might turn up on eBay. I have pictures of the auth cards, so I know the number, and if I see it, I certainly will turn them in!

Melissande. No this Chanel is not in the US, that's why the English isn't word perfect.

Let me say I am truly, truly sorry. Perhaps notifying the police as well, just in case the purse ends up being recovered by them, your purse can find its way back to you. Most likely, eBay would be the fence of choice by thieves.

We all share your anguish and hope a miracle awaits you and your beloved big guy comes home to roost again.
