Default Hawaii + Classic Flap?

Hi ladies! This is my first time posting on the purse forum. Thank you for all the useful information you guys provide! Well I recently bought a jumbo classic flap. I was planning on going to Hawaii soon, I was wondering if the humidity in Hawaii will affect the chain on the flap? Maybe cause it to tarnish? Haha I'm sorry if this is a silly question. TIA!

Hi and welcome to the Chanel forum!

First of all, congratulations on your Jumbo Flap! Which color did you get? Lambskin or caviar? Silver or gold hardware?

I would not worry about the humidity affecting the chains. These chains can really take a lot. Even when wearing them while it's raining outside. Believe me, I should know because it rains a lot over here during Fall, Winter and Spring time.

If humidity affected my Chanels like it does my hair, I'd be a total wreck. Enjoy the islands! (Just don't take any lava rock as a souvenier; it brings bad luck.)

Congrats on your purchase!!

I have been to Hawaii several times, and you should be fine with your Chanel. However, I don't suggest taking a suede bag (what was I thinking). Mine took a bit of a beating on my last trip with the humidity and rain. Oh well, I still had a blast & you will too. It is a beautiful place

Don't worry about it at all! I would say places like Florida have way worse humidity problems than we do honestly.

I got caught in the POURING RAIN (and I mean CATS AND DOGS) with my black patent jumbo and the chain obviously got wet. I just dried it off when I got to my car. No rust, no tarnish, etc.

I haven't had any problems with any of my bags with the weather here. Then again, my oldest bag is a year old so I can't say the effects over time. If you're only coming here for vacation I wouldn't worry about it at all! Have fun on your trip.
