Thumbs down Have you noticed the hardware on NEW Chanel bags???

Hi all ,

Just wondering if you have noticed the hardware on the "new" Chanels being LIGHTER in weight?

I was just at a boutique a couple days ago and was trying on the classics and reissues. To me, it was significantly lighter in weight...compared the ones they produced in the past, including last seasons.

As soon as I got home, I felt my classics and reissues and they are way heavier! OMG...I think they are really cutting back on costs. I hope they are not making the hardware hollow. Or using less leather. For goodness sakes, for the price we pay for these bags!

Have you noticed changes as well??? Please share...

Yeah.
Not only lighter, but the CC is more rounded...

Probably cheaper for them. Yet we keep paying more lol. *sigh*

I did notice the CC's being rounded on the patent jumbos too! I personally prefer the older CC's. I'm a fan of this quote..."If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

Oh and the patent jumbos were not as structured.

^ thats true. I found the patent jumbo not stuctured at all, and i personally prefer the normal cc's. The flaps did feel light to me, i was surprised about that..

I don't care for the new hw, the rounded CC closure. I have not seen them IRL yet, so I didn't get to feel how heavy or light they were. But obviously this is cheaper for them to do, so they do it, while raising prices. I don't think I'll be buying any flaps if this is how they are making them now.

Really? I never felt the weight of my chains on new or old reissue bags.

But like DD101 said, Chanel shouldn't have this kind of issues in terms of quality control or hardware material rip off....... Since they increase so much money!!

We should write a letter to Lagerfeld!!!

I hate the new, more rounded CC- completely ruins the bag IMO.

When I was looking at the purple lambskin e/w and its CC closure, I noticed that the hardware wasn't shiny...it looks kinda like a brushed metal or something. I wasn't fond of it.

In some bags the hardwear is nicer this year, like the expandables , more detail and nicer from last year, same with in and our flap, love the hardwear. I do not like the unstructured flaps though, I have a few from s/s . I hope the fall burgundy patent is more structured than the bordeaux. I dont think they did it to cut cost, I hope not. I thin its just a different twist on it. I know for a fact they shortened the straps on the flaps for the asian market, I know many people are happy about this, Im not. lol. I like to wear my Jumbo flaps messenger style and now I cant with the new ones.

I have yet to actually try on the new classic flaps, so I can't comment on them being lighter....

I can say that I am not a fan of the rounded CC hardware at all, and I hope it's not something they're thinking of changing across the board (with all of their bags).

^You can still buy the classic chanel flaps with caviar leather that have the "original" CC hardware. Most/all of the other bags, including new bags, still have the old hardware. It seems to be only the seasonal classic flaps, like the recent lambskin and patent ones, that have the newer hardware.

i dont really like the rounded cc, looks like less chanel to me, maybe cuz im used to see it like that and i want it like that! , havent tried any flaps so cant tell the difference on the weight, and also if they are making things lower they should not increase price at least in this "new" bags!
