I have both and my vote definitely goes for the classic flap. It's more versatile so that you can wear it both day and night, although I personally prefer the jumbo size over the med/lrg size.

The GST is a great bag, but I wouldn't wear mine at night. Some people also complain it's heavy.

Thank you everyone for the great advice. I think I will probably go for the M/L flap...can't really go wrong with the classic look....also, jumbo would probably look a little big on me, since I'm pretty short. Perhaps I'll get the PST or Medallion for my next Chanel purchase :)
I would really like to get the timeless clutch and east/west flap someday too - for a more formal look.

tough choice b/c I love both bags ( and the jumbo also) For me, the GST is better for day. I really love mine. The m/l flap would not be big enough for most days, but is great for evenings, parties, etc. I could manage it during the day -sometimes. I also like the jumbo for daytime. I don't think it holds as much as the GST, but I could handle it.

Classic is always the way to go when in doubt! Then you can stash up later with various goods of need.

I have already decided for the classic bag (flappy flippy), but I am on the other hand unsure whether to go m/l or jumbo.. hmm.

Anyway, go flap!

I agree with everyone's opinion! Go with the classic flap first and then buy the GST. Everyone says that they are just going to buy one chanel bag first but as time goes by you will want to buy one more and then one more and then one more. I am guilty of this as well.

If you are looking for classic, I think the flap is considered the most classic of the Chanel bags. Also the GST tends to slip off shoulders easily and loses its original shape after awhile. I debated the same question a year ago and went with the flap and have been very happy with my decision!

Definitely the classic flap cos it's very versatile.
In any case, this would only be the beginning..

I say both but that wasn't what you wanted to hear....
I'd do flap first then GST.
