I am planning on buying a black Chanel bag that will be versatile to carry daily, out to dinner, evening events, etc.. Basically a good black go to bag that can transition from day to night without being too bulky.

Here are my thoughts so far from surfing the Chanel forums.

• Black metallic reissue either 226 or 227
• Black caviar classic flap med/large or Jumbo
• GST black

I need advice from the Chanel experts! From reading the forum, you ladies know Chanel better than the SAs! THANKS

I think the 227 is too big for evening, but its my favorite size. I also don't think the GST will transition well.

I would go for the metallic black 226.

I like all 3. If you have to choose ONE, I'll pick the 226 metallic black reissue, which is great for both day and evening. Anything bigger than 226 is too big for evening wear. The med/large black caviar is also good but can't hold much. The jumbo black caviar is too big for evenings.

I'm not an expert by far ... but my first Chanel was the black classic flap in caviar. Hubby bought it for me some years back and I love it! It's so classic and timeless!

The Metallic Black Reissue is fab in 226. While I love the 227 size a bit more, I bought the 226 in Metallic Black precisely because it could transition from day to night. It's a gorgeous color and very versatile, it's got enough glam, but still discreet. I cannot say enough good things about this bag!

If you must go with a classic flap, I'd prefer the Jumbo -that said, it's a wee bit harder to work into an evening look. But the med/large flap is a bit too small for everyday use IMO. My med/large is smaller than the 226 Reissue, so I've found myself pulling out the reissue more.

GST is also fabulous, but probably better for everyday wear and casual looks, and even dinners out. The tote and boxyness of it make it a bit hard if you wanted to work it into evening.

M/L would be perfect for day to night - unless you tend to carry a lot during the day... in which case the Jumbo would be best in terms of space. Jumbo is harder to carry at night - I've only carried out for a semi-nice dinner... def not suitable for a "formal" dinner bag though!

I personally do not like the met black but I agree that 226 is a functional size for day to night.

Personally I would get the black caviar Jumbo =)

But if you want something great for evening, get the Metallic Reissue

i think the perfect size for both day and night is either 226 or the med/large.....and the style (reissue or classic flap) is definitely up to your preference :)

Another vote for black caviar jumbo classic. It will never go out of style, will see myself carry that bag for 10, 20+ years.. .

Either the metallic 226 or the black caviar classic flap in med/large. I'm currently using the med/large size, it's okay for me. As I'm only a wallet, a hp, a pack of tissue and an ipod-nano person. Most of the times, I put my hp in my pocket. It actually depends on how much stuffs you carry and which bag makes you drool over it more too ^^

Black caviar classic flap in med/large! It's such a pretty, classic bag that can transition easily from day to night. It doesn't carry too much, but it defintely carries the essentials easily.

Caviar Medium flap.. IMO it'd be easier to transition from day to night, casual to fancy.
