Default Ebay price and store price

I was looking on eBay to find a mint condition chanel bag, to save at least a 20% from store price but I was very surprised to find out that on ebay most chanel used or lightly used bags cost more than new items in the Chanel store here in Rome. (and the declared new ones on ebay cost much more than the new ones in the store).
So I was wondering how is possible that people prefer to pay more on eBay?

I think most people only pay more on eBay if it is for a bag that is no longer available anywhere else and they really, really want it!

I want the Westminster Flap and they have one on eBay for 500. more than retail and I am not about to pay over retail for it especially in this market when I am selling my Chanel bag for 600. below retail- so it just depends on how bad you want the bag IMO!

A more common bag like the GST or the Medallion tote go for much below MSRP. Rarer bags that are no longer sold or extremely hard to find go for above MSRP. It's just supply and demand.

I think that it's really supply and demand, what I've seen in the past few weeks is that some high demand bags are still going for > retail, but depending on the bag, it can either go for less or not sell at all.

Some of the resellers that always have the newest bags before any of us have had some of their bags up for two or three auctions already. I would imagine if they really want to sell, they're going to have to lower their prices at some point. Just my opinion.
