Somtimes repair just does not work out. I recommend to friends in NY to try Superior Leather based on her superb reconditioning of alligator (and ask for Mrs. Rosen), but a close friend of mine knows someone who did not have a good experience with Superior for suede. I buy my alligator and ostrich etc at Suarez (5 W 55th - prices are the same or less for exotic skins than Chanel these days it seems) and, at my inquiry, Ramona Suarez recommended a repair shop called Modern Leather Goods, (2 W. 32 NYC (212) 947-7770; she said ask for Tony or Terry). She said that they are reasonably priced in comparison to Superior, so the next time I need something done, I will try Modern. . . But -- without taking sides here -- there is always a gamble when you redye or send in -- that something will go wrong. By the way, they don't do it as much in NYC because they don;t seem to dye stuff (no one will dye clothing for example in NYC) as much as they may do in CA, but is it possible to reference a pantone (sp?) dye color chart when you are discussing what you want with the store. That might clarify things. No idea, just a suggestion!

I will not recommend a business which I know it does not have business ethic. I accept a poor repair job. I don't accept cheating.

I don't understand why you keep defending a business which you know through this thread that they cheat customer. I wonder if you are actually Factotum.
Okay! We got it! Your friend had an awful experience.....we are all sorry for her.

bagnut - thanks for the recommendation...it's nice to have options when you need to get your bad fixed or refurbished.

880 and Sappho. Thanks. Dyeing a bag and/or clothes is always a gamble. This Company has been in business 30 plus years and their reputation has earned them the business from the Desginer Bag Industry for spa treatments. I, too have had bad experiences with other industries but it was my experience. My next Chanel spa experience may not been the same, but I know for a fact that Tom would make it good the best he could if a customer isn't happy. Everyone enjoy their weekend.

sunbeamy: Thanks for remembering to post pics after your redye job. Your lilac flap is so pretty! Can I pls know how much did it cost and do show us modelling pics, please? So when you said that the leather is not as smooth, does it feel grainy?

Thank you mytokiluv! sure! will post picture soon.
It has a slightly rougher feel. It cost S$250/- for the redye job. But I have no choice...my bag was faded.

Are you referring to Factotem? If so, yes, just call first to ask them how it should be sent. What I do is take photos of the item inside and out just in case, the bag is lost, etc..

update: I got two of my bags back from Chanel boutique. One of them, Emilsen (at the repair on 57th) said was about 30 years old (it was my mom's first chanel) and came back looking great - they retouched the color (I asked them to do the edges, but perhaps they did the whole thing) and replaced the hardware, but the puffy sections have more pronounced dimples -- just something that you might want to ask about if you recolor. It is lambskin. My other recolor adventure is the pebbled leather -- more durable and I am very happy with it. Good luck with your recolor job

I just sent my bag to lovinmybags.com!!! Hopefully they will do a good job. I sent it via express so they should be getting it on Monday. I will definitely make a thread when they're done. `
