My recent send was a jumbo classic and had it done at a shoe repair in Orange County. It turned out absolutely gorgeous. The owner also told me that Chanel and Judith Leiber send to him. After seeing and believing I would only send to Chanel for chain repair. If I can post the business name, I will or you can PM me for their number. I live 2 hours away from them and send my repairs to them. I believe Saks also sends their repairs and LV. Hope this helps.

I had a caviar beige chanel petite shopper (smaller version of the GST) dyed black by my trusted local shoe person who delivered it back to me in less than a week. (Only the leather of the bag and the straps are dyed; the interior remains the same). But this is the pebbled leather; I believe that softer leather would not come out as well. Also dyers (or at least my local shoe guy) cannot do metallic shades and are happiest if you ask for something generic like black, brown or navy. Recently took in some bags to Chanel (NYC, 57th ST) to be refurbished, basically cleaned up and chains replaced, and Emilson TObsen, replair specialist there, told me that it would take 6-8 weeks because they now send some stuff to CA, which may be the same place referenced above. She did tell me that CHanel will not change the style or appearance of the bag too much, though they are shortening replacement straps on an older tote bag.
