Do you remember what it was like to get your first Chanel bag?

My first was the medium white black Cambon tote afew years back.

Yveline at Heathrow pulled out this colourway for me after I ummmm and ahhhed over the pink black one of the same size for ages but as soon as the white black I knew I had to have it as I was just getting into black white monochrome dressing at the time.

Yveline was also super cool and made a very good first impression of the service level at Chanel.

I then joined tpf and its snowballed from there!

Unfortunately, yes. I was naive and thought eBay was the way to go for my first chanel since I wanted a vintage bag. I bought a buy it now and was thrilled when I received it because I thought it was a Chanel but was kind of disappointed because it just wasn't what a $1,000 plus bag should be in my book....well that's because it wasn't. By time I figured it out that it was fake (by finding TPF and reading up on Chanel) I had already left positive feedback and the seller wouldn't take it back or believe it was fake. Needless to say- not a good experience and a big waste of my $$. Many Chanels later, I know what to look for if I decide to go secondhand and always post here for confirmation. I never want to feel that disappontment again!

I look forward to reading everyone else's hopefully more positive experiences!

I got my first Chanel this past April in Vegas. I save up for 4 months. I thought I was going to get the black gst and I came out with a bronze cotton club. I loved it until the chain broke. I returned it and got a classic black flap. I love her so much more.

I got the same great feeling with each of mine. Its a feeling im hoping to keep recreating hee hee! When I got my expandable, I hadnt seen one IRL before, and it was just so lovely. Nothing like opening those ribbons and boxes and delving into our new purchases is there!

Oh that was so long ago...
I was dating my husband (boyfriend at the time) when we cruised Rodeo Drive. I was a Vuitton girl then and I don't believe I was even interested in Chanel, thinking it was old looking. He wanted to get me something special to remember him while he takes off to Hawaii for the summer and felt Chanel would be a wonderful gift for me, plus he hated the LV logo and was determined to change me. So, in the store I found a medium black classic flap in lambskin w/ gold h.

It was absolutely gorgeous and he was so into it too

....and so the love affair with Chanel began.....and hubby regretted since.

I remember it fondly - Xmas 2004, DH and I were still recovering from wedding expenses and stuff so the last thing I expected was a classic black caviar flap w/ gold hardware - you the iconic Chanel that I dreamed off since I was little ... I was so touched and stunned - that bag will always be special to me and my sentimental favorite.

Yes, I just got my first Chanel for my birthday this past October and since then the desire for new bags have stopped. I am still in awe of this one and savoring that happy feeling.

I have been using it a lot which makes dh feel happy and worth it. It is the black classic flap bag with gold hardware.

I got my first Chanel last March from my parents, Small Shopping Tote in Black Caviar. They bought it when they traveled to HongKong. I can't describe my feeling actually. It was so lovely. After that, I'm so in

with Chanel. I want to buy more and more.

yes yes!! it was only a month ago.. and i still get butterflies in my stomach when i looked at it.. my bf was gonna surprise me with it, but i figured it out before he bought it, and i didn't want him to buy the wrong one!! lolx.. got a medium black flap with sh! i am soo happy! i took it out ALL week on my bday and its now sleeping in the dustbag~

Yes! I polished it every night with a soft cloth and put it away in its dustbag carefully. When I finally got the nerve to take her out for a spin, I always placed her on her own chair in restaurants. Now I have a few bags to choose from, but I'm still just as careful and proud.

There's nothing like that feeling of walking out of the boutique with that shopping bag in your hand-- just knowing I'm going home with a new Chanel bag to jazz up an old outfit makes me giddy!

Aw.. it just recently happened, me getting my first Chanel. My BF during a biz trip to NY called to ask me what I'd like him to bring me back. I own so many LV's, Gucci and Dior but I hadn't one Chanel. So I decided I must have one, but I didn't know much about the styles. So I hopped online, stumbled upon tPF and got hooked! The only Chanel bag I wanted in the whole world was a 227 Dove Grey Reissue from 2005. Well now everyone knows that is no longer available at any boutique in the universe. So he came home with a Dior drawstring cannage in brown suede. BUT I never gave up on my Chanel grey reissue.

Thanks to tPF I found a fellow member selling one and got LUCKY!! My heart was racing and I couldn't breath and even started choking, hehe! Needless to say it was one of the best moments

Yes! I was a diehard Chloe fan at the time. The only Chanel bag I had ever wanted was the beige/black Reporter after seeing a picture of Heather Locklear carrying it in a tabloid back in 2003. The retail price of $3175 was way, way out of my league, so the thought of ever being able to purchase it was - never gonna happen!

I started peeking into the Chanel forum in May, 06, between breaks from Chloe and found out about the sale on Cambon bags. My local NM had marked the Reporter down to $2225 on a Friday - my birthday weekend. I wasn't going to let the still hefty price point deter me from buying my dream bag, so I preordered it on my NM card. By the time the weekend was over I had sold my favorite chocolate Paddington to help fund the Reporter and the following Tuesday, I had my first Chanel bag at the ripe old age of 46. I remember my heart beating so fast while opening the box... but the feeling of putting that bag on my shoulder felt SO good! I don't care how trendy it is; I still adore it and will wear it until I'm too old to lift it up!

Yes, it was recently, as of one month ago. I went to the Chanel boutique in NM like 4 times before I took the plunge. I had been saving my $$$ so long and wanted to be sure I was getting exactly what I wanted. This Chanel is my most expensive bag and I wanted it to be something I loved now but would also love in ten years.

I had a hard time letting go of the money, I kept thinking of all the clothing and shoes/jewelry I could buy with all the cash I had saved up, but in the end Chanel won over. When I put my flap on, I knew it was the one, like it was tailored for me. I remember how it sat on my shoulder and felt so natural to have it on. From that moment I was smitten and have been wearing her on and off since (mostly due to weather, I refuse to wear my nicer bags in the rain). DH laughs that my slumming bag is an LV and he shakes his head.
