Most of the time I travel in a car so I haven't had a chance to bring it out on public transport. But I wouldn't mind if I have to, I'd just be extra careful in handling the bag.

Yes, if I had to take public transportation in the city. But I live in the suburbs and I drive most of the time.

I live in the city and rarely need to drive. I take my bags in cabs, on the bus, etc.

Yes, on the bus, subway, train. I'm a student and I don't have a car, so take public transportation most of the time. I always look after my bags: I never put them on the floor or so.

I live in NYC and don't drive so yes, I've taken my Chanels on every form of public transport: bus, rail, subway and plane (and taxi, if we're including that).

If public transportation is something that one would need to use.. I don't see why you could bring your Chanel with you! It is meant to be used, of course. Although to add to my previous post I am of course cautious, as I would be with any of my things. Whether it be in public transport, walking down a street or shopping in a busy store there are 'bad/funny' people everywhere. No use in letting a certain spot get to you!
