Don't rush, but don't miss it either. Fabulous information, I feel totally prepped for the trip to NM, aiming for this weekend before the price increase. I REALLY appreciate everyone's interest and input. You're all great, and my wife and I owe you!

Thanks for the quick info, I would suggest a black Jumbo Timeless classic flap in caviar, silver hardware.

Here's a pic I borrowed from Starbrite310 (*thank you*), a good side by side pic of a Jumbo in Gold and silver hardware:

No problem! I think it's probably the most fun helping out hubbies that come on the forums asking for advice on what to get their wives.

Your wife will be really happy..

Make sure you don't get a display bag.. make sure the authenticity card number is the same as on the hologram sticker inside the bag.

Not to make you paranoid, but NM is prone to doing little errors.

Tell them you want the box too..

This is your wife's new Chanel, and if you are spending that kind of money, it has to be perfect.

What a good husband!!

Agree 100%. If your wife is thinking of mainly a "going out at night" bag, I think the medium/large classic would be a better choice than the jumbo. And I agree with the suggestion about checking her jewelry to decide whether to go with silver or gold hardware.

You're a great husband!

This is definitely good advice for a husband! Make sure there aren't any scratches on the leather or loose threads when you buy it. Inspect it thoroughly.

What a sweet guy!

Does she wear a wedding ring? If it's yellow gold, I would go with gold hardware for her bag.

As for the type of bag, a quilted bag isn't a very good description. Quilting just refers to the diamonds stitched into the fabric, not the style.

If she's thinking of a bag for going out at nights, you would want a clutch, a reissue, or a classic flap.

As for size, at 5'5" you would be pretty safe with a medium, large, or jumbo classic flap.

Caviar is going to be the most durable leather type.

And black is always in style.

So I would say to put your money on a medium classic flap in black caviar leather, with a hardware to match her wedding band.

BUT only if it's her first Chanel! If it's not, you would need to sneak photos of what she already has so we can tell you what she still needs.

p.s. You're an awesome husband!

^It sounds from his posts that this is her first Chanel. I'm just assuming, but I would think he would have mentioned if she already had one.

Flap flap flap! I vote silver hardware although it depends on whether his wife is a yellow gold or silver kinda gal.

Well, I guess I am going to be the one who disagrees with the majority so take this for what it is worth. If this is really going to be a nightime going out bag for the most part, I would suggest lambskin and probably a medium/large although it will not hold a lot. You could also go with a jumbo although that size may be hard to find. This can be a daytime bag too. It is not quite as hardy as caviar but it is not that hard to care for. I personally am not a fan of black caviar although I love it in white, because some of the black caviar bags can be very dull looking. If you go with caviar look for the caviar with the highest gloss. Take a tip from the color of your wife's jewelry and go with silver hardware if she wears white gold or platinium and think about going with gold hardware if she is really into yellow gold - although I honestly do not think you can go wrong with either color. What a great guy - your wife is going to be thrilled. Oh - and I agree with everyone who said insist on a never been touched by human hands bag with all the tags. Then inspect it thoroughly and make sure they give you the nice Chanel box.
