Chanel Tweed Coat

hi everyone...

I just got my hands on black and white tweed chanel coat...AMAZING!! It was my cousins who bought a new one and gave this one to me. Unfort. it is wayyyyy to big, its a size 42. Do you think i should list it on eBay or Craigslist? and what do you think i should list it for? She bought it for $3800!! prob around 7 or 8 yrs old, but brand new condition...here are some pics...TIA

I would not put it on Craigslist for a couple reasons. I would just have it tailored (if possible), and Craigslist is a place where people want to get CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP things. I would go for eBay. There are WAYYY more people that see Ebay than a local Craigslist. Plus..it's only safe to really pay with cash on CL, which a lot of people aren't willing to do for a large amount of $$. I'd keep it, but that's just me!

Definitely keep it! It would cost a lot less to have a seamstress or tailor make it smaller for you than to buy a new one. Plus it's gorgeous!

All of the Chanel clothing I've owned is so immaculately made that it would be a shame to sell such a beautiful quality coat. You could wear it forever - it's a classic.

Anne...i wasnt sure what to list it for. I told myself that if it doesnt sell then i was meant to have it and i will get it altered.

See how much it is to get it altered and then decide. also you would hav to take it to a superb seamstress.

Maybe you will grow into it?? hahahahaha!!!

What size would it have to be to fit you? If it's a size or two, why not take it to either a boutique or a NM and have them alter it. Then again, if it's not to your liking to begin with, then sell it.

It might ruin the original construction of the coat, to have it altered if it is miles and miles and miles too big, though. It rather defeats the purpose of having a Chanel coat if the original tailoring is destroyed.

Such a gorgeous coat to let go, I would consider getting it altered instead of reselling it, but I do agree with melisande that if it's really too large, then I would probably advocate selling it on eBay to not risk ruining the coat. Let us know what you decide!
