I just got back from the Saks Somerset trunk show and saw the Melrose dégradé cabas-like tote. The Chanel rep said that the fabric material for this bag is NOT the same as the flap, which is coated vinyl...and Saks is not getting the classic flap bag in, either, but another pochette-type bag with a MM-like lock on the front and no gradient:



The gradient looks really interesting but it is just not worth the money for vinyl or fabric, IMO. I feel that they really missed the boat by not doing that treatment on leather - it would have been absolutely divine and worth the thousands they'd likely have charged for it! I do think that the tote is very cute - like the charm - but it just doesn't seem like it would be all that sturdy or durable.

Speaking of the other bags, I was really not at all impressed with the leather for the Cerf/Chanel Executive tote or the new Modern Chain EW tote. They showed both of those in white and the leather just looked...cheap? Stiff? I did not like the leather at ALL.

The colors of the Icon bags looked nice but none of the bags caught my eye - I do like the LA Freeway aka Walk of Fame bags, but they only had the flap in black and I think I'd get it in coral.

I did, however, waitlist myself for a bag that wasn't in at the store: the Hollywood large N/S tote:



They had the small flap in the store and I love love the metallic perforated lambskin. The interior is silver lambskin and it is GORGEOUS! The smaller flap is too small, though. I hope the NS tote isn't gigantic on me but I'm really loving it!

I love the melrose! Its such a great price! I wonder how big it is????? I love the Brooklyn, but it's alittle out of my price range!!!! This is like $1000 less and still way hot!!!
