I don't know for Canada and the US but a friend of mine brought a bag to Chanel in Paris last november and asked if they could do it, they said absolutely no because this would change the model copyright, reference and all.

^ This is true in the US too. If you wanted to lengthen the straps of your classic flap, I've seen the necklace/belt that Chanel has & you can probably do it yourself. I've seen some on *bay for ~$200 (mostly the black with GH or pink with SH).

Oh that's a thought! But is it really possible to lengthen it yourself? Need some manly tools I guess?

In the US, the Chanel boutiques would not do it. They would not change anything about the design of each item. You could get an extra strap and get a leather repairs place to combine the 2 though.

I live in Canada, so i guess that would apply to over here as well.
If I can find a leather shop that can help me do that seamlessly then it would be perfect!!

^ Just a note - IF you alter the bag yourself & the boutique may not cover the 1st-year free reparation warranty.

I can see why they can't do that for you.. cept the weird thing is when i bought my wallet last week it was a style that didn't has a closure. its check book style .. i was asking if anyone has had issues with it not having closures and the SA said no but that if i wanted they have been able to send the wallets out to get a small button attached..?

I had it done last year on my small caviar flap. 57th street boutique did it, it was around $150. It was not a problem at all. I love it the way it looks now, I wear it messenger style all the time.

Wow, that sounds good! I always want to lengthen the chain. So you just bring the purse to the boutique and ask them? How long does it take and do they send it to Paris to do it?

Hi ladies! I just called the store on 57th just now.
I have verified they indeed lengethen the strap for you still.

The person I spoke to said she can helpn me do it for $60. I told her I don't live in NY so she said to send the bag to the store and have it attention to Emilsen.

Ahhh!! I am so excited!!! Now I can get my perfect flap!! On the hunt for my medium lamp black gold hw flap ...

Wow, so they do lengthen the strap?

I'm so surprised, because I would think that doing so alters the original design, something Chanel kinda frowns upon.
