Hi. Didn't want to read and run! I would try calling Selfridges, Harrods and the Chanel boutiques ( Bond Street/Sloane Square) before going. If you google their numbers should come up....hopefully someone else will suggest a SA. Have you looked at the Chanel uk club thread?

I understand that the VAT refund prob be lesser than 15%?
unless the duty free shop at heathrow airport has prices net of the 15% VAT.

Is my understanding correct?
valnsm, yup you are right. if you get it in the chanel boutiques in london, your tax rebate will probably be slightly more than 10%. if you are getting it from heathrow though, the prices will be without 15% tax. HTH :)

Thanks for the confirmation! Maybe I can consider to ask my friend to help buy from the airport while in transit.

valnsw,
The Chanel boutique in Heathrow is at T3, so you've got to check which terminal your friend would be catching her flight from.

Another word of caution, the chanel bags literally fly through the doors there. So it would depend on your luck what is available at that time. Sometimes you can't even see find a single classic flap in the store. It took me 3 visits before I managed to get my black caviar jumbo there.

Heathrow price will be GBP 955/(1+0.15)=830.43

I just called all of the London stores, and the Manchester store - no large classic flaps in black caviar with GHW - if anyone spots one, please let me know - thanks!

You have 3 months to reclaim back the VAT. I recently purchased a classic jumbo caviar handbag with a gold chain from Chanel, Brompton Road, London for £1790 (Inc VAT).

If you are claiming back VAT, retailers/stores will charge you an administrative fee for completing a VAT form which will be deducted from your VAT total. Chanel charged me approximately £30 to complete the VAT form.

It took me 2 months to locate my bag, the classics are always quickly to sell out, and during Aug- Sep all of London was awaiting delivery as so many people were trying to purchase the classic pieces before the price increases. I would regularly call Selfridges/ Harrods & all the Channel London boutiques 2-3 times a week. Finally, 2 weeks ago a really nice SA called Berto called me from Chanel, Brompton Road and said he had kept a caviar jumbo aside for me (I will post photos this weekend).

For anyone looking to purchase a classic piece in London, my opinion is to call the London dept stores and Chanel boutiques 2-3 times a week. Deliveries generally come in on Mondays and Wednesdays and best times are to call as soon as they open between 9.15- 9.45am. Try leaving your name every time and ask for the same SA as they will know your genuine and they need to make a sale.

Good luck.

^^ Yes, there are waiting lists for Cruise collection. I would recommend that you ring the stores and boutiques to ask about getting your name down on a w/l for any specific item you're interested in. Good luck!

Ladies.. does anyone know if London will be getting this bleu roi WOC (posted in the HK Chanel thread)? Would there be a waiting list for small leather goods as well?

Hi all, I don't usually post but wanted to vent!

I bought the xxxl oversized reissue in black patent from Chanel in Selfridges on the 23rd October and the strap has broken!!! I've only had it 17 days! I rang Selfrridges and they sai they need to look at it beefore they make a decision.

I understand they need to look at it but I definately do not want it repaired or a replacement seeing as it broke so quickly. This is the second Chanel that I've had that has broken, the strap on my Melrose flap also came unstiched which was repaired. The strap probleem on this one is much worse though, it is only held together by one link, I think it is where the links are joined, but I still dont' eexpect it after paying £1840 for a bag.

I am sad as I loved this bag and it was going to be my last one for a while as I'm buying a house but I wanted to have nice memories of Chanel, not shoddy, poor quality overpriced ones.

Sorry for the rant, i will let you knoww what Selfridges say once they see it.
