Opinions - Jumbo Caviar in Light Gray, Beige, or Black

Hi Ladies,

I am planning to buy a Jumbo Caviar and it will be my last Chanel purchase for at least a year. I'm not sure what I should get because what I want is not available (true gray with gold hardware). Also, I'd like to purchase it before the November price increase.

Choices:
A) Light Gray w/ silver hardware (lovely, but it doesn't have the intensity of the true gray)
B) Beige w/ gold hardware (nice, but it isn't different)
C) Black w/ gold hardware (nice but it's black and I have 2 other Chanel purses in Black and a WOC, though they have silver hardware and in different styles.)

Before I left Hawaii, a salesperson showed me a m/l flap caviar in a color that reminded me of a light frapuccinno, does anyone know if this is the beige that is available in the jumbo size? If it's another color, please let me know. I want to say that the Chanel SA said it's the new beige, but I was only half paying attention because my wallet was reeling from the $2700 + I just shelled out for the embossed reissue flap.

I'm not near a boutique so I'll probably just call NM and take advantage of their promo. Unfortunately, this means I can't see what the purses look like.

1. M/L white caviar flap with gold hardware
2. 2009 Large/Jumbo Embossed Reissue flap w/ Coco Chanel embossed w/ silver hardware (sorry I don't know the official name)
3. Black Medallion Tote w/ silver hardware
4. Black Caviar WOC w/ silver hardware

If you don't like the shade of light grey and the color of the hardware, it is better to wait until you find the one that you are actually looking for. As for the beige, it is not a practical color, in my opinion.

If I were you, I would get black caviar jumbo with gold hardware.

I would wait since you already have so many black bags and the beige and grey, althought lovely, are not as practical. I like the new red and blues coming out. Someone said if you pay in advance at Hirshleifers they will honor the price and you can get the bag when it comes in even if it is after the increase.

I'm not looking for something too bright, so prob not the new reds or blues. I do have enough blacks. If I do end up getting something, it might be my last Chanel flap so I was looking for something classic but sharp, so the true gray with gold wouldve been perfect. I think the price increases are getting to be excessive. I mean the increases make me think I should invest in Chanel since it seems to increase more than my 401k.

True Grey would be perfect. I did see a darker grey with ghw. I thought it was at NM SAn Antonio. Did you try there or Hirshliefers??

^Neiman Marcus ordered jumbo gray with gold hardware. You may need to call around to different Neimans.

^ITA, also the price increase is still a speculation at this point; no SA is able to confirmed it. We had a speculation around last Nov, and it was just that, price didn't take a hike.

Thanks. I might try to hold out for the true gray. The NM SA did try to find it but said she couldn't locate it. Maybe someone who got carried away with the recent NM promotions will change their mind and return one.

could it be the 09A taupe? if so, availability is being discussed on another shopping thread. i just read that BG has both silver & gold hw's...

OMG,I think you're right, it is the taupe. Thank you!!! This may be stupid but I'm not familiar with BG though I know they're affiliated with NM, can I use my NM credit card there or do I need to open a BG account?

IMO- the taupe is a classic color! I was in the same position as you a few weeks ago... was trying to find the true grey and NM SA put out search for it because she didn't have one in her store and no one could locate one... so either I had to settle for light grey or something else (I have too many black bags already) so I actually ended up getting brown jumbo and am very happy with it! If I run across the taupe it may have to come home with me! Good luck
