Purchased in 1989 or maybe 1990. Approximately 15 1/2" x 15 1/2".

I haven't taken very good care of it... No one thought about collecting back then. Everyone just wanted the newest and latest and we all kept buying, not saving...

I used this bag a lot and thought I would throw it out when it got too worn. (Hangs head in shame.) Now I wear it to shlep around.

Please note the close-up of the leather... it's lambskin and I have never protected/condtioned it... it's not in terrible condition. I think Chanel leather holds up very well, over the years.

Two older Chanel bags - the smaller one is the darkest shade of blue I've ever seen and the briefcase tote is in gorgeous condition!

I got this Chanel evening bag from my mom, and according to her she got it in 1990 and it was only available in France. It is black suede and to this day is still in great condition with an interior that smells strongly of leather.

Update on black lambskin tote:

This tote was sent to Chanel for re-glueing of the exterior pockets ($95) According to Chanel BH SA, its age is approximately 20-25 years old. The interesting thing to note is the lower case "made in france" stamp and the deep maroon color of the interior leather.
