Hi, I heard from the SA at Kirna Zabete NYC that Celine will be discontinuing the Large Box bags, & will only keep the small & medium boxes in production. Has anyone else heard this as well? TIA

yes that's what i heard too.
i was curious about the large and thought i would be liking it more than the medium but then i tried it on store an wow it is huge!! even the strap is too long for me, i'm 5'4" btw and on the skinny side so that bag looks way too big for me, it's weird because i can manage with a bal weekender which is huge but not this bag :(

and i guess it is just not a popular size, medium is the only good size for me because the small is just too small and the large is just too large

That's interesting..I'm petite as well & was thinking of getting the LARGE just because it can fit an iPad & the fact that it was going to be retired. It looked roomy inside when I tried it on (I carry a larger zip-around wallet) & I also liked the size as a clutch. I've always dreamed of getting a nice Box bag from Celine...

Needless to say, when I saw pics on another thread of an overstuffed box, it kinda scared me, how it looked!

I think I've just gotten used to larger-sized bags over the years. I have the classic black Chanel flap & I seem to struggle to keep my stuff to a minimum! LOL

i used to wear large bags as well and i used jumbo chanel flap but i feel the large is really overwhelmed on me it's weird
i think i can only pull it off if i clutch it instead of hanging it on my shoulder if that makes sense LOL

and if you see the bag on these models they even look big on them and they are models. and most of the picture i've seen on these bags is they're wering it as a clutch, and when it is hanged down it is on the sitting position
i mean i love this bag i really do and i wish i can pull this off

i don't recommend to stuff the box bag though, especially with an ipad because even my the sides of my top medium bag lifted up when i fill the bag and i don't carry too much weight just because the strap is just going round from the inner hole so the weight is focused on the top flap. unless if it's the spazzolato leather which is thicker and more sturdy then the regular leather

Thanks, seahorseinstripes, for the great pics! This really helps
I see what you mean now & about the strap being just wrapped around the top flap. You're right that the flap would lift up if the bag is too heavy...

Thanks for your advice of not carrying too much, even if it is a larger size. I think I better go back to the store & try on both the medium & large sizes again. It's such a classic style that I think I could carry the box for a long time without worrying about trends. Also, LOVED the soft lambskin lining!

Can I ask you, is the box leather difficult to maintain? If I ended up getting any scuffs or scratches on it, can they be buffed out? Model Shu Pei's bag (last pic) looks pretty scuffed up

i love my medium box, the leather is so beautiful but yes they are quite easy to get scruff or scratches but the leather looks beautiful still with the scruff, it is just that type of leather that gets good with scratches.
and i agree it is such a classic i can see this bag worn for a very long time

some girls here have pretty good idea on how to help with the scruff, just do a search on the celine thread and you'll find them :)

this is my bag here with the scratches on it
finally after the long wait, here's my celine box reveal

Wow, what a beautiful color you have! I do love the medium on you I guess I'll have to live with any scuffs, which do seem to give it a VINTAGE look...The SA said the box leather will darken with age, which I like. Hope I'm making the right decision?!

thanks :) I really love it, I was considering the new red but when i saw this older burgundy I fell in love immediately
and yes, mine already got darker since I got it pre-owned from previous season and i'm glad I go for this color if every color will darken because it's darken beautifully, bright red might not darken as beautiful

I hope you get your perfect box soon :) good luck

I have heard that the Large box is soon to be a collector's item. I have one in camel and it is amazing...most gorgeous of all the Celine bags I own!

I honestly think it may be going out of production because the price point is very high and the selling volume is likely lower -- these bags are difficult to make and require very hi-end leather: box calf leather, and the large box is way over $4k right now in the US for a leather bag. Anyway, my vote is for Celine to keep these beauties (I also favor larger bags) but may not be in the cards. I recently saw a Large box in black -- PM me if you'd like more info. I rarely see them these days.

Thanks for your input! When I first saw the large box IRL in camel & in red, my heart literally stopped! They were just gorgeous. Both, however, were quite scuffed as the store only had ones on display. I am still seriously contemplating my first Box purchase- With the LARGE size, it doesn't seem they increased the US price in 18 mths compared to their other popular bags.

It seems the price point is very nearly the same as some of Chanel's bags, but I like the fact that it doesn't have a chain & the style seems versatile as a messenger, clutch, shoulder bag.

Hmmm...I will need to pray to the BAG GODs for some divine intervention before I can make this leap LOL

Oh wow! Thanks for sharing OP and others. Its sad the large box is on its way out.

I will say, the sides on my bag lift up even when it is empty so it doesn't have to be stuffed to start to get 'stressed' if you get my drift. I purchased it as a replacement for a Chanel Maxi and love it. I try not to over-use it though. Have only used it for about 2 weeks and I buffed out/lessened the marks with leather conditioner.

I hope the bag is not discontinued but I'm happy to have one

I'm glad to hear the scuff marks on a box can be lessened with a good leather conditioner. Can I ask which conditioner you would recommend to use on this bag? Also, do you think the top flap lifts up as well even on the smaller medium box? TIA
