What an idiot. I'm glad they're shutting down some of her Dior campaigns. She just needs to shut her mouth and stay out issues that she's not involved in AT ALL.

As a person who is consistently under the influence of "some sort of opiating pills," I can assure you that while coherence, as you have no doubt noticed, can be impacted, these medications do not cause those who take them to blame earthquakes on politicians.

At least not in the way that she did. If she had wanted to make an argument that human beings playing havoc with the environment could impact natural disasters, then I would be obliged to grudgingly concede that politicians could be considered to be included in the expression "human beings."

What an idiot!!! Why she has to say such cruel things?!?!

update:

"...Ms. Stone said that she told Mr. Toledano of Dior that since she didn’t believe she had done anything wrong, why didn’t Dior let her clarify her remarks with a statement? That statement, which Cindi Berger, a publicist for Ms. Stone, sent to The New York Times in an e-mail message, said, in part: “I am deeply saddened that a 10-second poorly edited film clip has besmirched my reputation of over 20 years of charitable services on behalf of international charities. My intention is to be of service to the Chinese people.” She expressed sympathy for the earthquake victims and said she regretted if her comments in Cannes were misunderstood.

Yet the apology released in Ms. Stone’s name by Dior’s office in Shanghai bears little resemblance to the original, and the difference seemed to irritate the star. To many bloggers, the apology made Ms. Stone seem at once groveling and insincere — another actress doing what she has to save a movie career.

“It makes it appear that I’m in agreement that I did a bad thing,” Ms. Stone said, adding that she believes the statement was not a poor translation but rather rewritten. It is unclear who at Dior provided the statement to the Chinese news media.

For actresses like Ms. Stone, whose image sells products, there is little room for fumbling. She said that she and Mr. Toledano have not discussed her contract with the company.

A Dior spokesman said Friday that Mr. Toledano was returning from a trip to China, along with his boss, Bernard Arnault, the chairman of LVMH Moët Hennessy-Louis Vuitton, and could not be reached for comment..."

She's an actress. Its not like she's famous or getting paid for being smart. Who cares what she thinks or says?
I personally feel bad for the Chinese people. Their goverment on the other hand....

I find her statements just as appalling as the statements from people who stated that Hurricane Katrina was a judgement against New Orleans.
Totally agree with this statement...I just don't get the karma factor..and SS is supposed to be quite bright...

Beautiful post! How arrogant are we as humans to think that natural disasters are due to something WE did or didn't do.

i completely agree!!

i thought that was the end of it... i also saw a clip of her doing a fund raising show where celebs were present to bid on something... she walks up to puff daddy and asked if he wanted to bid on something, he said no, and she was like "where'd you spend your money, on drugs?" or something to that effect lol

that's what they are, "entertainers"

I think this statement was very wrong but I think it was more of a mistatement. She has apologized and taken back her words. I don't believe she knew the severity of this disaster when she said that.

my mum was going thru chinese news on the internet the other dya and she showed me this clip.. my first reaction was, really? did she really just say that?! i wasn;t even very offended but more in disbelief at how airheaded Sharon is! For someone who's been used to public speaking and a role model to so many, she is retarded.
