This is the Carolina handbag by Jimmy Choo. It's made of eel skin.

I wonder what eel feels like.... *shudders* I imagine it a bit like those Nori algas you use for sushi...

I've felt eel skin before and it feels very soft but it must be so thin so it's probably quite delicate.

I have a couple of eel skin bags including Jimmy Choo eel clutch pleated version. The skin does feel delicate on touch but are surprisingly quite durable (have yet to get a single scratch or a snag... even more scratch resistant than my other leather bags!). Not at all scaly, fishy, etc., but more like.... thin lambskin feel. Eel skin used to be quite the rage in the 80s and many of them lasted in very fine condition and are being sold as vintage items. Jimmy Choo brought it back in this clutch version as well as Ramona style. If you are interested in the clutch but not feeling the eel, you can find the clutch in other skin versions including wild-print fur.
