Does anyone know the color, size, and leather type of the Birkin Lily Van Der Woodsen (Kelly Rutherford) carries in Gossip Girl? I've attached a link with a picture.

I think it's a 25cm Etutope. Too dark to be a Gris T

I love Gossip Girl and I know they are making $$$ bc of shows popularity, but I still dont understand how can they afford such expensive props? I know a lot of stuff is borrowed, but I just dont see Hermes lending out their Birkins and Kellys for them to film. TV is business, do you really think they are throwing out so much money on background props? I'm not an Hermes expert, but what do you guys think? Can they be just really-really good fakes? I remember even "Friends" used fake LV's in filming, and they were getting $1M per episode each!

Even after three seasons, GG has probably gotten to the point where people see something on the show and then run out and buy it - just look at how many people here post looking for stuff about GG fashion. Even if designers/boutiques have to loan out of one of something, but there's a chance it will sell out from being on the show, it's worth it.

Some of the Birkins/Kelly bags that Lily uses might also be Kelly Rutherford's own; I believe she has quite the collection. They're definitely not fake though.

it's definitely etoupe. i agree that they might be kelly rutherford's own bags. i think she might actually be obsessed with hermes because she named her son hermes and i don't think her previous husband was hurt for money.

I doubt they use "really really good fakes", that would be outrageous!
Its probably borrowed,bought or given to them by Hermes.
It is good marketing for them that the purse is shown in the series.
Apple use this sort of marketing all the time.

I don't think GG uses fakes b/c I have seen MJ and Foley & Corinna to name a few and I know there were authentic. You are absolutely right though, it is unfortunate but there are A LOT of shows that use fakes as props.

i believe that bag is actually kelly rutherford's because i have seen pics of her carrying off-set and awhile ago. nonetheless, i am sure hermes has no problem lending out props for such a popular show. all companies want their bags to be seen because it's great advertising esp. on such a popular show.

definitely etoupe. i guess is 30 with PHW. i have the exact same color in 40cm so I am 100% sure about the color

etoupe, 30cm either togo or clemence with palladium hardware. and it's definitely her personal hermes bag......among quite a few others. she has a lovely collection.

Thats what I originally thought too, because I have seen pics of her with different Birkins and Kelly all the time.
