i laughed at this because i was in the same situation at one point. i walked or took the train to work so i prayed to be hit by a car/bus. as soon as i realized things were not going to improve no matter how much i tried to change it, i was out of there.

get out of there! it's bad for your emotional/psychological well being and will eventually manifest itself physically.

When I started getting sick. Inever get sick....it was the environment stressing me out, not the work.

When I started having anxiety attacks. You could do everything right 9 times of 10, but the one thing that you did wrong was blown immensely out of proportion.

An update from me: I am now in a situation where I am more than ready to leave but am not going to without another job. I always had a small department of myself, my boss and one coworker and had been saddled with two people worth of work already twice in the past (my first coworker, who had the job I have now left for another company and my second one who replaced them transferred to another part of my company). My most recent coworker just left the company (fired) so now I am stuck with it again and my boss seems tentative about hiring someone so means it would all fall on me. Therefore, I've applied for two new jobs already and will be doing so going further.

Reading about the abuse of employees by Managers really makes me wonder what sick mental disorders some of these people have. Its very shameful to use ones position of authority in this way over someone who is trying to make a living.

I have felt like I can't take it anymore more than once at my current job. Its the people not the work. Once I do find another job in the same field I am outta here.

When I realized that I'm worth more than what I'm being paid. I can't even ask for a raise because we're going through major budget cuts due to not receiving enough funding from the government. There was also major restructuring management wise and I was one of the few they kept on. So guess who gets to fix the mess that was left? Moi! When they hired new staff, they took on younger people who are obviously being paid peanuts compared to the previous management. And the suckiest part is that they all feel that they have something to prove. Now, head office is going on another firing spree. Drama around here comes with a side of one upping and a huge helping of spying. I know they won't fire me cuz I know too much and they'd be stuck without someone to train the new ones that come in. I kinda wish that they'd fire me already. I hate my job so hard right now.

when my job actually started to take a toll on my health. With a commute of 4 hours, an idiot-boss and a job that I was just plain unhappy with - I couldn't deal with it anymore. It really took a toll on my mental and physical health. I hardly ever saw my children and when I did I was moody, irritable and just an all around b*tch.

I made the decision recently not to extend my contract. I need to be a good mom for my kids and a good wife for my husband. I just couldn't do that in the job I was in.

With 1 year of work experience (I graduated last year) under my belt I hope that it will be easier for me to find a job that I LIKE closer to home.

This is what I'm dealing with now. My boss is a perfectionist to the max (to the point where she can't look at someone if they have chipped nail polish, she does this drama queen thing where she has to walk away) and even if you do an amazing job 99.9% of the time, that 0.01% failure is thrown in your face and talked about throughout the entire office. It's awful.

When you start swearing at the monitor all the time at work, when your boss says you are a brilliant staff and very promotable but nothing happens after 4 long years, when you are dreaming about work stuff consistently.........

Soon for me, I think. God, I hate one of my jobs (I've a few, since I'm a poor student). My boss just creates this uncomfortable vibe and I wake up everyday I have to go there thinking "I don't want to go to work today!"

Today I lied and said I had a doctor's appointment so that I could leave early. Just couldn't stand being there one second longer!

I think I am getting close to leaving my current job, but for entirely different reasons than the last time.

My work environment is great, people are nice, they even bring someone in to give chair massages every week. My boss is a really quality person and I feel lucky to know him. But I am bored bored bored bored bored, and my boss told me I could stay but that frankly he thinks I could and should find better opportunities.

"Smile!"
The industry I was in changed so drastically and was no longer fun or challenging. Not to mention how soul draining it also became. I changed careers completely a little over 10 years ago and have never looked back.

Update on this: I handed in my resignation thursday. Enough is enough!
