My theory: they offered the job to the other girl and are waiting to see if she will accept. I am the back up. I dunno if I am over analyzing but there is really no use in worrying now.. I can't change the situation and I just have to deal with it.
Like you said its just a theory. Wait and see. I really hope you get the job. You deserve it. Sometimes it can take a while for a company to get back to people with job offers.

Don't assume the worse. Just wait and see.

Once again Good Luck!!!

I had an interview a couple weeks ago and they too made me wait "until next week" to hear back.. I was the back up and the girl accepted the job! I dont want to get your hopes up at all, its just funny you mentioned that and it just happened to me. :) Made me feel good knowing I was at least 2nd best lol.

I have an interview for tomorrow. I always get soo nervous and sometimes my mind goes blank or they ask a question and I get into it then go off track and forget what they asked me! I find rehearsing helps soo much. I know some people are against that but its a blessing for me. I make sure it doesnt sound scripted but at least I have the ideas in my head for what Im going to say, especially when they are scenario questions such as: "Tell me about a time ____.." if I didnt prepare for that than I'd be stumped! lol. When they ask what my weaknesses are I tell them I tend to overwork myself sometimes.. keep yourself looking good even if they are looking for something bad.
haha, we must be the same! I am the same exact way. I tend to ramble on and then forget what the question even was, LOL!

Even if I don't get the job I will be fine. I am still hoping that I get it, but my brain is sticking to the theory that I'm the 2nd pick. I hope that girl doesn't accept the job, LOL.

I found 2 other announcement today in the newspaper that I will be applying for

I'm actually in that situation right now--it's clear they're waiting to see if the other person accepts before offering to me. Frustrating as this may be, it's just all part of the process. Feel good that, in any case, you're one of their top candidates. In this job market, that's really saying something. I know in my situation, I can only win because even if I don't get an offer, I know I was 2nd choice among hundreds and hundreds of candidates (I have an idea of the number of applicants).

Crossing my fingers for you, dear. If not this, something better!

I remember one time when I had three interviews for this one position because they had a few applicants they were interested in! They were with different people but they asked me the same thing pretty much they just wanted to get to know me a little bit more and asked me some situational questions. Good luck and hope you get the job!

Thanks Redney!

I wish!!! I was supposed to get the call by Wednesday. I sat around at work all Wednesday on pins and needles and kept looking to see if my cell phone rang. In the late afternoon I had a missed call from a private number - I called the company to see if it was them. The head of HR was in a meeting and couldn't be reached. Fine, I left a message.

Didn't hear anything and in the afternoon of Thursday I called again, thinking that the secretary didn't write down my phone number. She said that the head of HR couldn't say anything about the position yet.

URGHHHH!!! What does that mean?

In my head I've already written the position off. I'm not getting my hopes up and I am trying to concentrate on finding new positions and getting my resume out there.

Frustrating, yes!

I wouldn't contact them again. Sometimes these things drag on. One never knows what might have come up on their end that is diverting their attention from this. Or, yes unfortunately, they may be stringing you along.

I hope this does come through for you but would caution you to not put all your eggs in this basket.

Nope, I won't be calling again.

I got 3 more applications out during the week so I am still looking

I basically wrote the position off. If they contact me and offer me the job, great. If not... ok!

I think it is common for companies to be behind on making a decision. Hope you have news next week, from this or another job!
