Default You never know what you might find at a garage sale
It's a rainy day in the Pacific Northwest. I noticed my neighbors having a garage sale nonetheless. I had just come back from a local thrift store, having scored a few books and a lamp for our guest bedroom. I decided to walk over to the neighbors to see if they had anything good.

I wandered around, looking at the dishes and odd clothing, a few books, electronics, nothing really caught my fancy. then I noticed a pile of handbags on a center table, and my eye darted directly to this:

I picked it up, instantly feeling the buttery soft nappa leather. Oh my god, I thought. It's definitely noce, I am carrying my noce today. I opened the flap, daring to dream of what I would find inside...

And there it was

The price on the table said "Leather bags $10". All I had to do now was ask a little about where the owner got it. Though I was almost certain it was real.

I carried it over to the woman running the sale. Where did you get this bag? I asked. She said she got it in Italy, years ago. "Hand made," she said. "they don't make them like that anymore. Probably all made in India now."

"No, they're still made in Italy," I said, not wanting to give away that this bag is worth more than $10.

"I'll take it," I said, and handed over a ten.

My first vintage BV, not very clean, well-worn, but PERFECT for when I want a knock around crossbody bag to carry just phone, wallet, keys, etc. Oh and it's mostly lined in nappa leather too. It's awesome.

$10?!? That definitely has to be the find of the year! And what a great way to brighten up a rainy afternoon (I think I'll go out and look for garage sales now...).

Thanks you guys! I've been wearing it all day, still can't believe it.

I have also been wondering if maybe I ought to send it to BV to be cleaned/refurbished. If that would even be worth it?

OMG I didn't even mention the OTHER score from the same garage sale: a pair of excellent, working, small Harman-Kardon computer speakers, listening to music through them right now: $4.00
