Default Would you do the same??
Weather forecast said today is mainly cloudy with some showers but I'd never imagine it's like pouring when I got home tonight! Luckily I've left the cabat at home but used the new ossidato drop bag today. It's small & handy to carry on shoulder when my hands were busy with the umbrella & some shopping bags.

But I was worried about my bv ballerina flats.....so....I've taken them off and walked home with my bare feet. I'm so glad that I did that, or that flats will definitely be ruined even though they're made with patent leather.

I wonder if it's just me being so silly, or my fellow tPF'ers will do the same?

I would have done the very same thing. Put my shoes in a bag and go barefoot.

this is why i keep a pair of flip flops in my desk (also helps for that impromptu pedicure). the idea of walking barefoot in the city scares me.

In a heartbeat...I've also taken my coat off and wrapped it around my precious BV bag while caught in an unexpected downfall. Sure I must have looked silly getting my clothes wet, but the only thing that mattered is that the bag didn't get drenched!

I am the one who asked her dd to remove her raincoat so I could put it on my bag when we got caught in the rain in Ireland (not hard to do). She asked if I was serious, "yes of course, you will dry off, my bag will be ruined!" She didn't get that wet and she knows I love her more than the bag, just practical.
I would take my shoes off rather than ruin them, I can wash my feet.
Cheers,

hmm..... from the point of view of a person growing in the tropic where sunny and bright in one minute and pouring like cats and dogs the next is a norm, I would protect my bags that's for sure but shoes ??!! I salute you ladies for your love for all thing beautiful

I have lots to learn from you.

Am so glad that we are all sane normal bag lovers...
I will usually bring along a plastic bag if I see that the skies had turned grey...But weather is always unpredictable in where i am right now, so i too, will go into a store to ask for a plastic bag or buy something to get a plastic bag! There was a time...when I even asked my husband to take off his shirt to protect my bag when it was drizzling!
Hee hee my husband thinks that I am nuts, cos i seem to "baby" my bags more than i "baby" him!

Sounds perfectly normal to me. I need to take some spare shoes in the car, now that I think of it...

I would have done the same! Just recently bought a dry bag that folds very small to carry in my purse, so that when it rains, I just open it and slip in my rather large handbag. - and shoes too if I need to do that. And yes, I have been known to walk barefoot to save my shoes from the puddles.
