Default Venetas scuff easily!
I've only used my Oceano veneta about 3 times and I've noticed slight scuffing at the base already - so fast! And it's not as if I've been dragging it around. Do you all have the same problem? Those of you who have sent your BVs to BV boutiques for reconditioning - do they come back looking very much renewed with much improved scuff marks?

I sent my studded veneta for a touchup. One corner had become very scuffed and the tops of the leather studs showed wear. The bag looks good as new and it took about three weeks. If it's done during the first year you own the bag there is no charge.

If I buy it from Saks, do I still have this service free of charge within the first year?

BV will not provide free service if you buy from Saks. However Saks will provide free repair service within a year of date of purchase. Saks sends it out to their own repair service. I just had this done recently - haven't received the bag back yet.

I wish the search function was working. BV repairs were discussed some time ago and I believe I read that BV will repair any of their bags regardless of where they were purchased.

I brought my veneta to NYC BV, where the BV repair center is and they would not repair it for free since I bought it at Saks. I would have to pay the fee around $60? A year or two ago, BV did tell me they would repair for free within a year. Perhaps if you purchase a lot from BV boutique, your SA might process the repair for you for free.

This is very interesting. Last week a friend of mine brought two ANCIENT BV bags into the boutique for refurbishing. She told them she had no idea where they were purchased -- they had been gifts from her mohter over 10 years ago. BV did the work free of charge because the bags only needed conditionng. They look good as new.

i had emailed my bv store and they told me that they dont offer any cleaning services. maybe i should have been clear and inquired about reconditioning? she suggested that I re-dye my bag at a local shoe shop (no way!)

LLANeedle, I've posted on this before but this is my experience with BV in Singapore. I would also stress that they do not do the repairs in
Singapore. They send it to Italy on customer's behalf (regardless of where the bag was bought). BV Singapore will also take in bags for reconditioning.

Having said this, they once did a minor repair (glueing) of my phone strap in the boutique here.

I do not know if the other countries offer the same service.

Glad you got your bag back in great condition!

My Veneta hasn't shown any scuffs and I check it daily. Not being overly careful, I fully expect that it will show wear eventually.

In the Maui BV store, the mgr offered to do some on the spot re-conditioning for my Ebano Ball bag. The Chicago store took my Poudre braided handle tote to re-line. they sent it to NY. I had to pay for re-lining, 'cause the marks were my fault.

^ boxermom, so you re lined your bag? Also with suede? Or the other cotton option that I've heard about? How much did it cost?

Back on topic, I've had my Veneta over a year, and it still looks pretty new

Isn't it comforting to know our bags can be "fixed"? Whether we make a 'goof' or it's just wear and tear over time it's nice to know they can be relined, reconditioned, whatever they need, to keep on giving us so much pleasure.
