annie i couldn't agree with you more. i have to say though. i have this bag. i got it from neiman last year. i resented getting it afterwards because as much as i love BV, its not a practical tote at all. i just came across another post where they were talking about the burberry beaton being available on costco.com...when i went to check it out, i see this!!!!
i have to say, i'm feeling quite disturbed by it. |

roe- i totally understand. i was thinking of future bv purchases and now i'm not sure. i was already getting fed up with all the sales. it always was just seasonal colors and that i totally understood but now it seems like everything is going on sale. there is no reason to buy full price at the boutique. if the cabat goes on sale i'm done.
i may call my sa tomorrow and try to find out what the story is. |

i'm hearing this from everyone...not just you. something totally different...i'm sure you've heard of Ann Taylor. Well the other day I was in Ann Taylor and there was a real nice suit. It just had come out. The SA is talking to me telling me how nice the suit is and I said to her "I'm sorry but I would never pay full price for something in Ann Taylor. I know I can come back next week and get it at 30 to 40% off." She said that very soon the company is going to be changing that policy because they are actually losing customers because of it.
I can see that though. Especially with the higher luxury goods such as BV, Gucci ..etc...I guess Louis Vuitton has always been onto something with there nosale policy. |

I really hope BV re-thinks their policies. Selling their brand at TJM or costco, etc. devalues the brand. It's so disappointing. I get so aggravated when I pay full price for something and then see it discounted the next week at the same store or at a steep discount at a cutrate store. It's no way to cultivate loyal customers.

BV is at TJ Maxx? Hmm. I think they need to get a better handle on where their goods are distributed, even TJ Maxx is the third or even fourth center to receive a load of unwanted bags.
I'm not a snob by any measure -- after all, my BV is from BlueFly -- but TJ Maxx is just really too low end. Piling up a bunch of BV bags next to leftover Adidas track suits? Come on. Chanel and LV have maintained their "prestige" image by keeping a handle on where and when their items go on sale (in the case of LV, never). |

this is very shocking and dissappointing news....I was seriously considering getting another BV but now that I've seen this post I have to rethink things. Selling their bags at Costco really devalues the brand...

Why on earth would BV devalue their own bags by selling at Costco. I really don't understand the thinking on that one.

i just spoke to the BV SA that has helped me in the past. According to her, they (BV) only sells to prestigious stores. ( such as Neiman, Saks, Bergdorf) and to some eureopean clients of course. Now who the European wholesales back to, they have no control of.
Still I can't imagine, LV or Chanel being "wholesaled" like that. I can't even see Gucci wholesaled like that. |

Seriously. I really don't believe the "we don't have control" thing... |

yes!
that is what they said. Of course they have control or they can have control. It's all in the claus. well at least it should be in the claus. companies such as these should have guidelines and regulations. |

There's a legal term called "willful blindness" that actually applied to a Costco lawsuit case. Prada or Kate Spade or somebody like that sued Costco because the bags they were selling were fakes. There's a concept of due diligence when it comes to validating and inspecting the items you sell, especially when it comes to authenticity. Costco did not do that, and therefore, had to pay damages for their willful blindness (kind of the "we'll just assume it's okay, but really, we'd rather not know if it isn't" attitude).
I think BV is pulling the same thing Costco is. |

wow!!!
i never knew that there were legal issues between a designer and costco. how long ago was that? i'm sure after such a case, Costco would have to be alot stricter with the designer goods they get a hold of. The also have Burberry there. I mean I can see Burberry being sold at Costco more than BV..not saying tht its not bad for Burberry's reputation either. If anything Burberry shouldn't allow it either. Are they not working on their "image" |

I wonder if the BV's at Cosco and TJ Maxx are authentic or good fakes?
