Well, given that you already own a large Veneta (if the grommet Veneta is indeed the large size), how do you like the size and shape of it?
I own and love the Sloane and medium Veneta, and I have tried on the old Ball, New Ball, and New Pyramid (which I think is what most of us simply refer to as just plain "Pyramid"). I had a large Veneta, but I ended up returning it for size reasons. I voted for the large Veneta, even though I didn't like the way it looked on me (I'm 5'2" and 105 pounds). It wasn't so much that it was too big as it was that it sits a little too low on the torso for my preference. That said, it was an extremely comfortable bag to wear on the shoulder. I think it's the lightest of the bags and has a comfortable shoulder drop and slender profile. The medium Veneta is a better fit for me (and I can wear it easily over coats and sweaters), so it's just a size thing. The Sloane is a gorgeous bag. I have no problems with it fitting over sweaters or coats--I have ample room under the arm. I find it very comfortable to wear on the shoulder and have no complaints. I find it easy to wear. This bag fits everyone differently, though. I will note that the Sloane is slightly heavier than the Veneta--it has a lot of leather in its construction. Because it has a sumptuous drape and it hugs the body with its extra width, I think I'd rather carry my Veneta in hot weather. For that reason, I think the Veneta is slightly more all-purpose/everyday. I've tried on the New Pyramid and considered buying one, but I tend to prefer BVs without noticeable metal hardware (others really like the metal rings, so it's just personal preference). It is slightly smaller all around than the Sloane. I think it's a great choice, too. It looks much different on the body than the Veneta, especially the large Veneta, so it depends on what you like. The old Ball has a more structured look than the Veneta, and I'm pretty sure it has a smaller capacity. I did find it to be easy to wear on the shoulder when I tried it on. The New Ball I ruled out just because of the exposed hardware, and I wasn't fond of the inner pouch system. But it's comfortable, too. |

I vote for the Veneta - a bag that you wear, rather than carry - though you can carry it if you want. I am small, but prefer the large veneta for the capacity and drape. I also appreciate the zipper closure, though you could live it open if you really wanted to, since your belongings will settle to the bottem. It was made for shoulder wear, and is exceedingly lightweight. IMO it is iconic in a similar manner to the cabat, but at a lower price point and weight. I currently have seven - the eigth is on order, so I do put my money where my mouth is.

I love both the large veneta and the sloane; both are relatively easy for me to carry w/ a light jacket (sloane not w/ a coat). Have not tried the ball.

Can I join in? I'm a BV virgin. I've never bought one but tried on the Sloane and the large Veneta. For some reason the SA didn't want to have me try on a Pyramid because she said it's not as roomy as the other two bags. I have no idea what the ball bag is. She only showed me bags that had secure closures. Well...
I went with the YSL Rive Gauche because of price. They are having a blow-out sale and I just couldn't resist although I am hearing frightful things about their using goat leather and it stains in the rain. Personally I think it's ridiculous for a leather bag to stain in the rain but getting back to BV, I am hoping that in nine months time I can buy myself a large nero veneta. At $2,000 it's a dream of mine! Sorry to chime in but I fantasize about wearing one of those smart skwooshy soft intrecately woven lambskin leather bags one day! I also love the light colored suede interior! Oh, I can dream can't I? Best of luck to all of you! |

I am still dreaming of owning a Sloane (i guess everyone knows that
) but now I do own a large Veneta, I must concur with those who have slight problem with the zipper, I love my Veneta but it is quite a challenge at times to unzip/zip up my veneta when both my hands are occupied.my two cents worth... |

Well, you guys are truly amazing. Thank you all so much for your time and your thoughtful comments. bluegenie, your Red Hat Society comment made me
. goldenflower, you have FOUR VENETA's? Lucky girl! LVLux, I admire a woman who can carry a big bag like that and not feel the least bit embarrassed about snuggling with it, . ssc0619, I'd love to see a pic of you and that tiger! blueiris, I really appreciate your comparison of the Veneta and the Sloane. I'm sure the Sloane is stunning, but it really wouldn't suit my needs the best. Baggiana, S-E-V-E-N?!? That's a Veneta Party! ![]() I think that the Veneta is going to get my vote... assuming I can find one that is pre-loved but not pre-ruined, at a price I can handle. Now of course, my next question is, what color? Something bright and colorful (like the Mela (lime) green or the burnt orange) are so eye-catching, but I wonder if I would tire of it quickly. I once had an LV Epi bag in Orange and I went really, really quickly from loving it to hating it. Was SO relieved when it sold. Yet, it is a classic Hermes-y color...? Blue is out -- just a personal thing. I have a beautiful MJ bag in black, and also one in gray, so no need to do black or gray. I have an LV in Mono, so that takes care of brown. Maybe it's time for red? I'd prefer purple, I think, but I doubt I'll ever find one in my price range. And metallic? Probably too glitzy for me, given the size of the Large Veneta, even though they are GORGEOUS. So many purses to love, so many questions.... |

Definitely red or purple. Am sure there was a turbolence (the most gorgeous deep purple which I adore) veneta on ebay a short while back. Will keep a lookout for you.

Your white grommet is beautiful, beth001.
![]() My favorite have to be either the purple or mela venetas. I'm biased because I love purple and green shades.

Veneta is a fabulous choice! I have 8 and it's obviously my favorite style. There's no other style I'd consider having so many of the same although they all have a personality of their own.
