My first (and only) BV is steel Large Veneta. I love "grey" color since it goes with everything. Tourmaline is nice too. For some reason, steel attracts me the most, so I decided to go with the color.

Thanks dpt for the interesting analysis . I believe both colours can do great job . It's worth getting two colours as they are really good bags. Agree ?

I think Tourmaline is a great investment color that will go the long haul. The steel med veneta has also been on my radar ... but i ended up buying the medium veneta in tourmaline for a few reasons.

1) I prefer bags in darker colors for every season b/c of their substance - they anchor an outfit & cut a beautiful silhouette (but that's just me , & although i've only seen steel on my computer monitor , it does seem like a wonderful "medium" color)

2) Tourmaline is the most 'classic' blue i've ever seen -- it is to "blue" what ebano is to "brown," nero is to "black." I don't think Tourmaline is going to be made each season, & didn't want to miss my chance to have it in my collection.

3) Tourmaline can work for you in a way that nero / black doesn't [i know you're looking at steel, but I'm suggesting Tourmaline has special appeal in that it's a more versatile "black-alternative"]. For instance, black might look harsh next to those summery, tropical , brighter colors in your life. Whereas a dark navy fits in perfectly next to a yellows, pinks, reds.

On the other hand - Although Tourmaline is a staid, workhorse of a color , it's maybe not very exciting to the eye. I carry my celeste veneta when I want a color that gives my mood a little lift.

If you can get both - go for it! But I agree with dpt, tourmaline is the best blue that I have ever seen. Please let us know what you decide.
It is a neutral blue, way more than your average navy/midnight. You cannot go wrong with tourmaline, it is a gorgeous color! I don't have experience with steel so I may be biased.

I agree, sounds like the perfect solution! I have both. Like LT said, the tourmaline is a perfect alternative to black. The color is very rich. Steel is a perfect neutral. You may find it difficult to find Steel. The Boutiques sold out of large Steel venetas quickly. The only department store that I knew had Steel was Bergdorf and they sold out too.

Would love to see pictures when you get them!

I was going to recommend getting both, but noticed a concept on this forum called 'enabling,' and ... well ... Yes! Both, both !
If you do, I'd love to see a side-by-side comparison shot of the colors.

Dear dpt ,will definitely share pics ! Just another question . Will you go for large steel or medium steel ?
Worried that large steel may look too big on me .

Honestly kiwipat, IMHO, I don't think the large veneta looks too large on any frame because of its drape. It's just the perfect bag!

Good Luck with your decision!

Your idea of large steel + medium tourmaline sounds perfect - because it's good to have both sizes on hand & these colors will work in so many ways.

It sounds like these are your first 'veneta' styles?

I think a collection of 1 - large / 1 - medium will serve you better than 2 - mediums.

I just recently started carrying a medium-sized veneta & I'm surprised by how much I'm
loving it. However, probably most would agree that the large is a must-have. Different bags for different times, you know? I haven't heard of anyone being swamped by the large veneta ( the maxi , a different story ).

I'll finish by saying that I love your large steel & medium tourmaline idea b/c both bags will achieve this kind of 'balance' I'm always seeking in bag choices - where size works with color to achieve a wonderful sort of balance. In your case : a large bag balanced by a lighter/medium neutral AND a smaller bag balanced by a deep/substantial color.

Ah , the analysis that term papers are made of!
But in the end , a fabulous dilemma with an exciting resolution ~

It's an absolutely gorgeous color and will go with everything.

That said, I think tourmaline is a fabulous color and a great alternative to black. I have intended to put Ms T away for summer but it would not surprise me if she pops out for a summer outing!
Hello, I too have that similar combination BV's, a large tourmaline Veneta and a steel Parachute, and I really love both colors! About to go on an overseas trip for a week and can't quite decide which one should come along, lol.

Getting both colors is a great decision!
