Who: Anne Christensen, T Magazine’s women’s fashion director

New York City iconography easily boils down to a few key items: the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, Central Park and especially taxis. Those omnipresent vehicles streak the streets in yellow and black, transport us usually safely — maybe with a headache — from Point A to Point B, and have long been synonymous with life in this city. I love the energy that those colors convey, and I’m not alone.

Tomas Maier has created a limited-edition bag, 50 in total, for Bottega Veneta called the NYCabat. It’s woven in the signature BV hand-crafted leather and then hand-dyed yellow and black. It’s also big enough to bear the typical New York load — gym clothes, change of shoes, newspapers, magazines — but still looks chic.

At $7,100 it is perhaps geared more toward the private car set than the public transportation set, but in this town, even billionaires have been known to take the subway.

Wow, only 50 to be made! Lovely color combination but price is way too steep. Looking fwd to it's reveal.

But with only 50 available in NY - I don't think it makes a difference

I have expressed my love for this bag long time ago even though I am not particularly partial to any cabat color but I love this bumble bee bag. Sad to say that I don't have a money tree at home

As a Native New Yorker, I don't think I want to be carrying a cab around, lol! That cab Yellow is not one of my favorite shades of yellow...
But ya know NYer's love black and this would look great with all black...
I'll have to keep an eye out for one on NYC streets.

Hmm, at one time I did like it, but more I looked at it, decided too trendy.

And it does look stiff and plasticy, think it's from the process of the bag's construction--Spazzalato
