Sum - bryan recommended cadillac lotion to me for moisturizing and water protecting (not proofing). i feel like it made the buttery softness even more so. my bvs are still too new to be dry. cadillac makes a number of products, but this one is WAX FREE which is important.

Doloresmia and Sum, my SA Hanna also recommended me this lotion. I have tried it on my Veneta and it made the leather very soft. I'm a bit afraid to use it again since my Veneta is already so slouchy and broken in. But if the leather squeaks, maybe softening it will help.

dolphigirl - i didn't notice any change in slouch after using the cadillac lotion, but my veneta is less than a year old. the leather just got softer - which i would not have believed possible. i think you only need use it if the leather starts feeling dry and for weather proofing. i got my bv wet right after applying, did a little dabbing and no water stain

Wow, doloresmia, I did not know that Cadillac is for waterproofing. My SA told me to use it for conditioning. Maybe I used too much last time. The leather turned really dark and I had to leave my bag overnight to air dry.

oooh. i didn't use a ton, but i rubbed the lotion in very carefully with a cloth and then left to dry. didn't notice any coloring. did your bag return to normal color after it dried?

on the waterproofing, the bottle says

"Unique wax free lotion cleans, polishes and protects leaving a soft, satiny finish that retards water spotting and cracking. May be used safely on all colors of smooth leathers, reptiles and exotic skins, patents and vinyl. There is no finer product on the market today."

Try not to worry, enjoy the great deal...either you will get used to it or it will break in and stop. Hopefully all the ooohs and ahhs when you carry it will drown out the noise.

Oh yes, doloresmia, I'm glad that my bag turned back to the original color when dried. Otherwise, I would have cried.
