Default Say It Isn't So!!! BV Candles
Hey BVers,
I'm not on tpf that much these days: law school is very demanding. Anyway, I absolutely LOVE the BV candles. I just went to buy some more but they're not even on the website. I called the New York store, and the helpful SA on the phone hinted that the scents might be discontinued in the near future. Has anybody heard anything about this? I ran a search on the forum, but I didn't see anything. Still, I apologize if this question has already come up and been answered.
Also, I saw that the second SO didn't go through. Even though I wasn't involved or signed up, I just want to say that I'm so sorry that it didn't work out. Jburgh: you're the best mod on tpf. I really mean that.

The scents are a collaboration between BV and L'Artisan perfumery. I'll have to research that.

I just looked at the L'Artisan website and while the BV category is listed, there are no products for sale. I visited the L'Artisan boutique in the Village (NYC) several months ago and they had the candles and cologne for sale then.

BTW, here is an article about the scent: http://www.nstperfume.com/2006/02/09...ottega-veneta/

edit - as I was poking around on that website above, I found several comments about the fragrances being discontinued...must be true.

As a consolation ricera, there are some gorgeous dresses for SS 2010. You need to visit the SS 2010 thread, many would look so great on you!

I hadn't noticed or heard anything about the candles. That would be a shame because the scents are quite nice. I have one from 3 years ago--I don't burn it very much, obviously, but I love it and the Noce intrecciato on the glass.

The L'Artisan shop in NYC closed recently. Very sad. Aedes de Venustas may still have stock: www.aedes.com. They ship!

Thanks for the information everybody. I want to get a bunch and stock up, but I don't know how long candles retain their scent. 2 years? 5 years?
Thanks for the compliment jburgh. I recently got another dress from Winter 08 off of ebay, but it needs to be taken in a bit. I love the dresses, but as a student, I don't have much occasion to wear them. It's just best to look away.

I just received confirmation from BV that indeed L'Artisan and BV have parted ways. The fragrance items that are available are all that is left, so stock up if you love them.

I love my little Peltro potpourri charm that hangs from my Cabat.

Call a few BV stores--they may have a quantity of unsold candles.

BV New York still has some candles, and if you email BV.com, they will ship some too. DH is ordering some right now. I don't know how many because he wants to be able to surprise me in the future during special events and stressful times. This means that he'll have a secret stock pile somewhere of discontinued luxury candles, waiting for the right moment to give them. He's such a sweetheart. Sometimes it's hard for me to keep up!
I hope that everybody who likes the candles can get some. It's really too bad that they won't be made anymore. If anybody knows of any comparable candles, I'd love to hear about it for the day when we run out. I'm especially interested in substitutes for scent #1.

Default candles room sprays and sachets
It is true they are discontinuing their association with the current perfumer
all that is available for candles, room sprays, and sachets are in the stores
if you love them better get them while you can
of course this is not to say the BV is not teaming up with another perfumer in the future to produce home goods
I hear there is a rumor about a BV scent coming out
don't quote me on that it is only a rumor
