Question to owners or those who have tried the small shopper tote

Just wondering how "safe" it is to use this tote (not for everyday, just occasional). Do thinks fall out of the bag readily considering it has no magnetic closure at all? I am debating between this and the small capri but the latter is more for hand carry so I'm trying to weigh the pros and cons of the two styles. TIA!
