So I think the handbag gods are trying to tell me something...

While in BH today, I popped into BV to have a look, knowing full well the trunk show was happening tomorrow and Saturday. To my surprise EVERYTHING was set up today! And though I had just seen the show (also inadvertently) on Monday, they had 2 key pieces today that weren't in SCP -- the two Paille bags!

Doloresmia and others have already posted all the relevant info on these two lovelies, but having seen them IRL, I can confirm a few details:

The Paille Tote is a really special bag. Looks like a fat, squishy straw bag, though it is a fat, velvety leather. The handles are caiman(!) and are adjustable. It comes in one size only and as speculated earlier, is more of a handbag size, but I wouldn't call it "small." It is significantly smaller than a Med Cabat though. I've never seen a mini IRL, so I can't compare.

The Paille Cabat looks completely different. As in the runway pic it is a lovely creamy, ivory color. But the leather is slightly crinkled (pleated) to give it a straw effect and for some reason, when you squish the bag it has a kind of "crunchy" sound to it! This one really looks and feels like a straw bag. Also very special, but definitely feels more seasonal than a regular ivory Cabat would...

The Paille Tote uses the same leather as the Nuvolato Cabat (burnt marshmallow). It only comes in one size, which is smaller than a Medium size Cabat, more like a handbag. The Mini Cabat is more North-South, whereas the Paille Tote is more East-West in shape.

For some reason in the UK, they do not know the prices of the BV burnt marshmallow bag in large and uomo, they do not or could not confirm the numbers they are expecting. I think they are keeping things very close to their chest.

I was just put on the waitlist for a medium tie-dye cabat. As I do not live near a BV store any longer, I asked if they would send it to me on consignment when they arrive in store in January. I can not get in to see it and feel nervous about purchasing a $7900 bag sight unseen. I asked my SA about the availability of this bag and she said she was told by the BV rep that they will be doing the usual 500 pieces of this bag.

What do you guys think? Would you buy/order the burnt marshmallow now, during the trunk show, sight unseen or just wait and hope they don't sell out and can send one on consignment for me to check out first? I just purchased the medium PO Cabat but think I would really like this one too...Help!

MarvelGirl

I would.

But that is me.

My thinking is this - from the description and the colors and the photos and the fact that i already adore the cabat, i know i would love it. since it is going to be ultra rare, if in the highly unlikely case (for me anyways) that i didn't like the burnt marshmellow, i believe the resale value would be good. Again, that is my logic and rationalization :)

BTW I think I or another member posted how many of these would be coming to the US.... or maybe I am getting confused. I think this is a limted limited edition.

For me and I think others tPF BV fans, this bag tugs at the heart the same way ottone did/does... and therefore it is not just another bag, KWIM?

^Thanks so much D for your thoughts. I too was under the impression that this bag was very limited edition. However, the BH SA that told me there would be more available is a BV sales veteran. I love her and trust her but I am worried that they will be all gone and not able to send via consignment. I don't know...$7900 is a lot to pay for an item you haven't seen or touched. What to do...what to do!

I know you said you live fairly far away, too far to make it to the trunk show Saturday in BH?

Too far, yes. I live in the Carolinas now. I do get to LA a few times a year on business but I won't be there this week. I so miss living there for the shopping and being able to attend all the trunk shows, etc. They are so much fun! Now I have to rely on tPF and things like consignment to purchase BV and other high-end items. :s

Well shoot. That is too far. I am sure if you ask, your SA will explain the policy for consignment. I cannot imagine that they make you take a credit. It is important to love the bag at those prices, absolutely.

LOL! No, I was strong. But that's primarily due to the fact that I have so succumbed to the H handbag gods of late! I have not yet kicked that habit...

Have they given out prices for the Medium version ? If not, could you ask ?

I am intrigued at the currency rates and would consider 'breaking away' from my store if it means I could get it a lot cheaper in the UK... No sense in throwing away money right ? (what would the BV wrath be ??).

MarvelGirl, I certainly hope that you could return the bag if you don't love it! Does anyone know what the return policy is for regular price bags?
