^ Agreed!

Who is the adorable child in your avatar? The photo makes me smile every time I see it.

boxermom: How lucky that you can visit your grandchildren and a BV store at the same time! I love babies but I am looking forward to Jacob reaching Colin's age. I love doing activities with preschoolers.

Here are pics of the gloves and scarf I purchased today. I hope the gloves match one of the stripes in the scarf. The SA didn't have one in the store to look at.

Thank you, goldenflower! I'm glad she makes you smile. That's my 14-month-old daughter, who makes me smile too (well, almost all the time!).

I think I am going to put caviar cream all over them before I take my dog out for her walk! LOL. Let's see if I get soft hands afterward. Yes they will be in the REI gloves...

Oh and speaking of REI, I work near their big flagship store in Seattle, which is where I went yesterday. I had never been inside before... wow what an amazing place! They even have a rock wall to climb, and I got a free coupon for a rock climb. Fun!!
Did the cream work well?

I love the Pacific NW I was in Portland, OR for about a week this summer, attending a conference for work. I really enjoyed it out there. The conference overlapped the July 4 holiday, so my husband came out so that we could spend my seminar-free day exploring the Columbia River gorge and Mt. Hood. Simply marvelous to be hiking in mild weather and on the same day see snow on the ground in July! Oh, and the REI in Portland has a rock-climbing wall too, and some children were having a go at it while we were there. Our REI seems rather boring in comparison. I imagine the Seattle flagship store is amazing!

Goldenflower, I love your new gloves and scarf!

what are y'all having for dinner? I am trying the tandoori chicken recipe in this month's Cook's Illustrated. It's in the oven now and I know it's gonna be amazing.

It's snowing right now, but so lightly that nothing is accumulating. Not enough precipitation.

I'm not sure what we are having for dinner... we're supposed to be going to a friend's party tonight but now my DH just called me as I am leaving work to say he has accepted an invitation for us to go to a neighbour's Christmas do tonight - of course the first friend is "my" friend (whom he doesn't really like), but he insists he just forgot her party when he made the second commitment. So we might have to party hop in order to go to both, rather than have enough time for a real meal. Grrr.

So you are getting snow in Seattle?! Cool! We were supposed to get snow yesterday but it just ended up raining and being miserable all day. Today started out really bright and crisp, but it did seem to be clouding over during the course of the day - but probably just getting ready for more rain rather than anything exciting like snow.

I wish I was going to a christmas party tonight. Though it is nice to stay home and cook! I just opened a bottle of wine (chardonnay, pretty sure it was a gift as I am clueless about wine but want to know more). It's mmm very good.

I have also been working on the xmas cards tonight, I think I only have six or eight left to do.

And "on topic" -- I can;t stop thinking about this third iteration of the Ball bag, I am dying to know what colors it will come in, when it comes out, price, what it will look like... I may just have to save up for this one for my spring bag (that breaks my ban)!

Hahhah that's a good name for a bag, the "BAN-BREAKER" --

Dinner here: spaghetti with quick sauteed sauce of tomatoes, red pepper, garlic. In the old days I would cook spag. sauce all afternoon, now I sautee veggies for a few minutes and it's done. Parmesan on top, of course!

Back to the Christmas cards here too. They have wreaths made of sea shells.

Jane, I live in southwest Washington, and we are getting snow. : ) We live at about 900 feet of elevation, so we get more than the sea level people. it is so pretty!

Spoke too soon - it is snowing like stink out there now! And I took my Carmino Montaigne to the party, thinking it was going to be a nice evening... luckily it had started to snow by the time I arrived so I put it in the trunk rather than risking taking it with me and getting it snowed on for the walk there and back. And it definitely would have been covered with snow if I had taken it with me - but so much for making the entrance to the party with it!

Boxermom, yes, I remember the post about Target and thought it was odd. I didn't even notice the political connection to the poster's name....sometimes I can be clueless.

Goldenflower, I'm staring the big six zero in the face. Geez, where did my life go? I'd like to do/get something special to commemorate the day but I'm undecided. I love BV so I thought about a SO or maybe a piece of jewelry would be better? I never had a slumber party growing up so I'm thinking of having my friends over for one. Frightening thought, huh? My dh says I'll fall asleep before 10pm...LOL

My cards are done and mailed but only because I've been held hostage by window installers since 12/4 and confined with the dog to the kitchen, out of the way. I've mentioned in other threads I collect frogs. My tree is decorated entirely with frog ornaments and my cards every year have frogs on them.

That legacy stripe scarf is so pretty. My younger dd gave me the umbrella....I love it.

Good morning, ladies. I hope those of you getting snow are not in a terrible mess! We're supposed to get the wonderful "wintry mix" later today. I'd rather have a foot of snow than an inch of ice. Going to the store or taking our 95-lb. dog outside on icy ground becomes a really frightening exercise in coordination and balance (neither my strong suit).

I Cook's Illustrated. The beautiful covers alone would entice me to buy it, but I especially love reading all the detailed explanations of their cooking trials.

I'm impressed by the posts about finished Christmas cards! I haven't even started. That's on my list for today, along with gift wrapping. I like shopping and buying gifts, but I don't enjoy wrapping them much. But it has to be done.

LLANeedle: I'm 52, and 60 doesn't seem at all far away! It's a cliche, but the years really do fly by faster as one gets older.

I think a slumber party is a wonderful idea! I had many growing up (my mother still talks about how wild we always were, LOL) and they're a lot of fun. In case you do fall asleep, be sure to make your friends promise beforehand that they won't put your hand in a bowl of warm water!

For a gift to mark the occasion of your upcoming birthday, I would choose something that makes you very happy every time you look at it. I think a SO BV would be wonderful, and I also think a special piece of jewelry, perhaps something you would wear every day, would be a great gift. My favorite piece of jewelry is probably my eternity ring. I like the simplicity of it, and the symbolism.

I was very tempted to get the Legacy umbrella, so I'm glad to know that you love it. I know I'll get that at some point. I love the colors of the Legacy stripe.

Goldenflower. I'm with you. I'd take a foot or more of snow over ice any day. But even with the snow here, they salt the roads which only re-ice every night. It's such fun. My younger dd has the legacy striped flats and cosmetic case...they're so cute. I'm a sucker for stripes, polka dots, geometrics in general.

I got home from work last night at about 8 pm and it was spitting snow. Then it really started coming down. This morning, everything is covered by about one inch and so pretty. What fell on the street melted a little and is now ice. Wonder how I am going to get to work this morning. Seattle doe not have the fleet of ice trucks like my hometown, Chicago.
