This forum skews a little older, which I LIKE! To be honest I have been steering clear of certain places because the level of discussion is so often all about "OMG all my friends are like sooooooo jealous of all my bags!!!" and it takes a lot for me to keep my thoughts to myself when I see those threads.

I left my new Coach gloves at work. Wah.

And I think my new REI gloves will need some kind of liner for when it gets below freezing here. But they'll be fine for when it warms up again, but is raining.

Man--I went away to visit family for a few days and now there is a "chat" area. Woo-Hoo!

I agree with everyone else that BV is a more mild subforum--no drama, no fighting, etc. That is one of the reasons I like hanging out here.

I visited my in-laws from Wednesday night until today. They live in the Pocono Mountains and the schools were closed Thursday and Friday because of snow. My four nephews and nieces were ecstatic! It was cold, but the visit was fun. They are only about 2 hours north of where I live, but the weather in the mountains can be wicked! I picked up our dogs from the boarding facility and am happy to be home with them.

I've never been familiar with mountain weather (born and mostly lived in the flat midwest) but it's a different thing altogether! On a visit to Santa Fe it was warm enough to be in short sleeves (October) and leaving the next day there was a blizzard!!! I was so shocked. Sounds like the kids ahd a lot of fun!

Love your avatar with your Greyhounds. They always seem so gentle. We used to live near a WI dog track and there were a lot of adopted greyhounds around us. Bless you for adopting!

Oh my! Did they offer to replace your bag? A hairdresser once ruined one of my tops with dye and they actually offered to replace it. I told them thank you but it wasn't necessary (it wasn't terribly expensive) but a Tod's bag! Eeek.

boxermom: I too am a grandma! We have one grandson, age 10 months. It is such fun, and I look forward to all the years to come. How many grandchildren do you have?

L T Bag Lady: How was the party? I'm sure everyone admired your beautiful shoes & bag!

So following Jane's excellent lead, I too purchased a pair of Coach gloves with my PCE card this morning. Also a wallet for DH (I thought about a BV for him, but I'm not sure he'd be kind enough to it, LOL) and also a cashmere scarf (the Legacy stripe, which I really love). I feel sort of self-indulgent, spending more on myself right before Christmas, but 25% off is hard to pass up! Plus I had a Coach g.c. that I needed to use.

OK, I know what REI is...we have one here and it's a great place to shop but Boxermom, what's a troll?

It is nice that for the most part this is an older group. I'm definitely, the oldest here. I visited the ** (maybe I'm not supposed to say it?) forum and I swear everyone was 18 or younger. Jane, I know what you mean by the "OMG, my friends......." I had to laugh. I felt like I had walked into the wrong classroom. It's so nice to be here.

We have a party tonight on the Riverwalk in San Antonio. Can't wait and we are actually staying there for the night. Oh, I wish I had a Knot!! That would be perfection.
I know what you all mean about some of the other sub-forums, too much drama. BTW - I took out the baltic Veneta for a test run yesterday and love it! Would love to have a black or nero in the future.

Does anybody have any grandkids and if so, how old? I have a sweet little 5 yr old boy that I adore.

goldenflower, the funny part about it is the stylist did not offer anything, not even a service because of the stain on the bag...so, you live and learn.. I took it to where it was purchased, and they sent it out to repair..When the bag came back, the salesperson and I were shocked to see that not only had they removed the stain, but they had "lacquered" the vachette..it was so shiny! so the store issued me a full credit .. I guess I got lucky for once,,,

L T Bag Lady- let us know about the party!!

jane- I have to get to COACH tomorrow to check out their gloves!!!

goldenflower, I have 2 grandkids. Grandson Colin will be 3 in January and granddaughter Avery is 9 mo. We spent Thanksgiving with them, butwon't see them at Christmas unfortunately. They live near the new BV store in Virginia lol.

LLANeedle, a troll is someone who posts solely to cause trouble. Do you recall the person (I won't give the name but it had a political party in the username) whose first post was why was BV worth the price when you can just go to Target for a bag? It was done with malice and the replies were really very civil, which must have been a huge disappointment to her. Their goal is to create drama and we didn't oblige, so they left quickly. I loved it.

So I have this deluxe sample of La Prairie Caviar Luxe Cream, which I won't be putting on my breakout-prone face anytime soon... I have had it for a long time and never opened it, not sure what to do... But then today I noticed that my hands are super dry and chapped from the cold. I think I am going to put caviar cream all over them before I take my dog out for her walk! LOL. Let's see if I get soft hands afterward. Yes they will be in the REI gloves...

Oh and speaking of REI, I work near their big flagship store in Seattle, which is where I went yesterday. I had never been inside before... wow what an amazing place! They even have a rock wall to climb, and I got a free coupon for a rock climb. Fun!!

Wow, this thread is moving fast! I will just dive right in...

jane, I love love love those gloves. I have never been into Coach, but wow those are tempting. I don't remember what glove size I wear, so I might have to sneak to a store to try those on.

I lived in Seattle my entire life until seven years ago, so I love reading posts from those of you who live there or nearby--reminds me of home. I still go back about twice a year to visit my family and haven't really come to think of anywhere else as "home" yet.

I love this forum, both because of the overall maturity level and because people here write well! It's a small thing, but the English major/teacher side of me appreciates readable posts.

I don't know, I may give you a run for your money on being oldest!

I too find this group generally more mature and enjoyable. Many of you welcomed me and have responded to my posts; that doesn't always happen in other forums.

I am so glad that the dye accident had a happy outcome!

I did take my new torchon hobo to the salon today, but I was careful to put in on a shelf under her countertop so nothing could get on it. Ironically, this is the first time she hasn't commented on my bag - maybe because it wasn't sitting right on top of her counter. Then I went to the drugstore and on a few more errands, and I realized how much I am going to appreciate the lightness of BV bags. I had a lot in there today, and it still never hurt my shoulder.
