ssc0619, goldenflower, LLANeedle, and all! I can not thank you enough for your kind support and understanding. What a bunch of great people we have here.

It was really great to speak with him yesterday. Now I am so looking forward to seeing him on Sunday and getting ready for the care package.

LLANeedle, gee whiz, even more anxiety coming up? Oh dear..., I'm sure I'll come back here and whine more, LOL!

ssc0619, DC for 5 days? sounds fun!! Do you have any specific places to visit in mind?

beth001, good luck on your cleaning, you may find something precious within the mess! We've been thinking about moving for the last two years, so we are constantly organising and throwing/giving things away. It's amazing how much stuff just accumulates so quickly, especially with kids. We've got tons of receipts from Lupus foundation!

Ladies, I picked up my dd at camp yesterday and the first words out of her mouth were "Mom, camp next year is in Boston, can I go?". LOL I was hoping a little bit for "Mom, I missed you !". But all is good, I am happy that she had a ggod time!

We are in DC doing touristy things and taking in a few shows! The weather is gorgeous! DC is usually very hot and very humid this time of year. The past three days have been overcast and in the low 80's! Really quite nice.

Please excuse any typos....I am using my Iphone and it is hard to see mistakes!

ssc0619, that is GREAT news about your DD! Enjoy your time in DC. It is a wonderful city. I have some family in the NOVA area, and, except for the traffic and the humidity, love visiting there.
P.S. I know what you mean about iphone posting -- I'm always embarrassed when I get back on my laptop and see all of my typos. Looks like you did fine!

Cleaning Update:
Nothing of interest found in the upstairs bathroom, unless you count about 8 unopened tubes of toothpaste, and about 52 razors and replacement blades (for boys and for girls.) The only "oldie but goodie" was a metal Band-Aid box. I saved that. It was cute and they don't make 'em anymore. I threw out pounds and pounds of expired OTC medications, empty prescription bottles, at least 6 boxes from hair dryers, straighteners, and other appliances, the hair curlers I had in HIGH SCHOOL, and dozens of shampoo and conditioner bottles with less than a tablespoon left in each one and that sort of thing. It was very, very exciting, let me tell you.
Today I hit the lazy susan in the kitchen cupboard where I keep all the spices and baking ingredients. Much less in there to toss, but it is all clean and organized now. So, I can now check off the second thing on my "Summertime To-Do List!"

I've been inspired to clean up some things lately too Beth! I should have taken a before picture of my 'hobby room', which is really my office as well. We just built this house 6 years ago, and I though the hobby room was going to be huge. You know how that goes! I collect and stash goodies for scrapbooking, quilting (hundreds of yards of fabric, maybe thousands), I make lampwork glass beads(think lots of pounds of glass rods!) and all the beads that go along with making jewelry from my glass lampwork beads, lets see, hmmmm what else? Tons of quilting and glasswork books. I have been on the Reading is Fundamental Board for 21 years, and have notebooks/paperwork/etc for each of those years. I could just go on and on. And then there is all the paperwork for running the house and paying bills.
So anyway, I am trying to get it all organized so I can actually see some counter space!

Beth,

Don't you feel great when you get rid of that much junk? It makes me so happy!!! I am always amazed how we let things get into that condition. After I do a major clean-up I always swear that I'll never let it get that way again!

Fantastic, ssc! I'm so happy that your daughter had a great experience. You can have a vacation in Boston next summer then! Which shows are you going in DC?

beth, what a great work you've done! and it's nice that you are having such fun doing it. What's next on your list??

bags4fun, you do glass lampwork beads? I bought one from Etsy earlier this year and it is just so beautiful!! Do you have pics of your work that you could post here?

We've seen some local shows. The first is called "Shear Madness" and we've seen it four times. The kids love it! It is an interacitve murder mystery comedy that's been playing in a theatre in the Kennedy Center for years. It is really fun! The other is "the Capitol Steps" group who perform at the Ronald Reagan Center. They are a political comedy musical group. The adults loved it, the kids not so much!

Yes, I make glass lampwork beads. I'll try to come up with a picture.

What's next on my cleaning out list? Hmmm... there's the garage, but that is really filthy and not much fun, so NAH. There's my bathroom drawers, but that would mean sorting through and tossing makeup and I'm not so sure I WANT to do that. (Besides I did it only about a year ago. Just shows what a makeup-a-holic I am!) Oh, I know... my desk! Yeah, that's it. My desk. Time to file all the paid bills, receipts, etc. BORING. But, I'll feel much better when it's done. And now that I've committed to it, I'll post my updates later this week. Thanks you guys! You're spurring me on!

beth, I meant your summer to do list, not necessarily cleaning out list. Maybe a nice relaxing holiday coming up?

So, I had a minor car accident yesterday, just got bumped from behind when I stopped at the light. I called my husband immediately, who called the local police and came over in no time. First I thought it was nothing but develped some creeping pain in my neck, shoulder, back, head, and in my eye while waiting for the police, so ended up going to an ER. No injuries, thank goodness. The other driver was OK and so were her two kids in the back seat, and she was also very cooperative. I was lucky.

And, seeing our son last Sunday was just beautiful! He was waiting for us on top of a big rock by the camp entrance, did a lot of catching up especially with his dog, showed us around like a pro, and saw us off from the top of the rock, tearing up but no shedding tears. He has had such wonderful time/experience, and two more weeks will just add more great memories for him. I feel OK now. Thanks, everyone!!

Oh no, Mid! Glad you are ok. Try a heating pad, to increase the circulation to the sore muscles. Sounds like your son is having a great time at camp. A great experience for building self confidence and independence. Camp was a wonderful character building, and mind expanding experience for me. What sort of activities is he doing?
