Dear blueiris, yes I do buy most of my bags without seeing them in real life. Usually, if I see a bag I like in a shop and then come again to look at it, I lose the initial interest in it as well...except the abovementioned Ferragamo kelly see attached, which I eyed for years until I finally got it.
I guess you are right, I should just go to the store, again and again, until I see something that I like repeatedly, and until I am absolutely sure. That way I will surely have what I want.... I appreciate the advice!!

OK - got a question...
I've been reading the Introduce Yourself thread (welcome!). What is the difference between Hong Kong Dim Sum and Cantonese Dim Sum...ingredient-wise?

I don't think I even know what DimSum is. I live a sheltered life. A friend of mine did send me an article about Sushi today that turned my stomach and I LOVE Sushi.

Here is an article on it, but it didn't answer my question: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dim_sum . We love Dim Sum, whatever style it is.

Thanks, I just didn't know that's what it was called. Actually, I love Dim Sum. Learn something new everyday!

I was wondering if any of you experienced this kind of strange stressful feeling when you know you must have a bag.... Before I got my Rame med veneta and today the Roma, I had such obsessive desire to get them that I could not concentrate on anything else... I actually started worrying that I am going crazy or something.

I have never been addicted to anything - never smoked, never did any drugs, never even got drunk in my life. I dont even drink cofee. However with bags it has been getting worse and worse this last year.

It usually goes like this: I find a bag that I love, and I start obsessing. It is usually either incredibly expensive for me or out of stock, in other words it is very difficult to get. So I start the search and go crazy either trying to find a cheaper price or trying to find it available somewhere. Then after a while I get so obsessed all I can think of is the bag. Finally I buy the bag one way or another. When I wait for it to come I feel very happy. However, at the same time, I also start looking around.

I feel like a bag slut!!! When the bag arrives I am usually slightly disappointed, except in rare cases, and I convince myself that it is great, it is what I wanted. I enjoy the bag for a while, but in the meantime I find another and the cycle begins again.

Often I really cant afford another bag, so, I decide which ones will pay for the newbie and once I decide which ones will go I lose all interest in them, and put them into my OTHER closet where the rejects sit, and wait to be sold. So far I have been quite successful selling the "rejects" who once used to be the objects of my desire.

THis whole time I feel I am on a quest for a perfect brand/bag. It is getting exponentially more expensive every time, but now I am in love with the BV. I want it to be my last stop, because I am so tired of this ride, and just want to have few beloved items I wear for years. So far the only brand I cherish and keep and will never let go is the Ferragamo saffiano collection. The saffiano kelly style bag was my obsession for four years. This was back in time, where 1000 bag seemed impossible to obtain. I pray that BV will be my last stop where I find my loyalty, and stop obsessing. I also made a pledge that I wont buy new bags until I am 35 ( I am 32 turning 33 in two months).

Anyway, I had to share this with somebody, because I hope that may be some of you can relate to this. I am really worried that I am obsessed, what if I am clinically obsessed??? I know we joke about this, but is this healthy?
I can relate to the thrill of the hunt and sometimes the disappoint that a bag didn't meet my expectations. I would recommend when you are going to pay full price to have a BV boutique send the bag on approval, then if it isn't everything you wanted you can return it without the headache. You've been lucky that you have been able to sell your rejects because usually you take a pretty good hit on these. Bags are obsessive and your holy grail changes every season. I agree that you tend to buy more and more expensive bags, I thought $500 was alot now I think $3000 is a threshold..then there is the cabat that's over $5000.

Ordered a stroller/car seat today, love it

You have to enlarge so you can see how cool that gray fabric is.

I think I might be able to answer that. There really isn't a huge difference, since Hong Kong cuisine is mostly Cantonese (Canton or Guangdong is geographically the nearest province). To me, Cantonese dimsum is a more generic term -- you can eat it anywhere in the world these days. However, Hong Kong has popularised a more refined form of this traditional cuisine, so if an eatery advertises Hong Kong dimsum, I'd really expect something very well-made, with quality ingredients (and prices to match).

(I grew up on a steady diet of Cantonese food, and visit Hong Kong often.)

i can totally relate to these feelings. i feel i spent a lot of money trying to buy the perfect bag for me. i now realize there is no one perfect bag and i can love and appreciate a lot of bags but not have to own them. i wrote down my definite criteria and started the 24 hour rule. i now never buy on impulse. i must see the bag and leave.
i am really trying to be satisfied with what i have. it sounds so silly writing this because i have so many beautiful bags. i never went into debt to buy bags but i now have so much more disposable income.

I recently found myself on this path, lol! I had to stop and take a look at what I have and what I need. I know I get caught up in the crazy moment sometimes. I find I have to step back and take a look at what is important...for me at least. Sometimes it is a handbag, sometimes not.

I think it feels sometimes that the bags are just an outlet. I got obsessed way more when I was going through difficult time fighting for custody of my daughter in court and lots of stress this year due to many very serious things (like having my parents sit in a bombshelter every night and morning, even on New Years eve, while my home town in Israel was bombed). Even though my husband is so supportive and amazing in every way, sometimes the TPF is the only place to hide from the reality, and the more lawyer bills I got the more bags I bought. Every time I got a lawyer bill I thought - this could be Chanel, this could be LV, etc... I thought - if I pay this much to my lawyer it wont hurt to spend something like that on myself for a change... I know it was totally stupid of me to feel that way, but even though now things are much better and less stressful, I already "tasted" the forbidden fruit, and there you go - the full priced Roma is coming next week... Four years ago I thought 70 bucks was too much to spend on a bag...Woe to me!!!

mouseptrolix, I think I am in the same situation.
At least, we are awared of the problem.
I told myself this would be the last cos I never thought I would afford
more than 1 BV. I guess once you bought something at a certain price, then it seemed ok to get another one at the same price or even higher.
I'm trying to give myself excuses that, these bags are timeless and that they would grow old with me. But what if I'm still buying at the same rate. yikes... I bought 4 BV (that's a lot for me) in the past 3 months.
I sold 1 because I felt guilty. Then I sold another one cos I had an unpleasant experience with the bag that I didn't want to keep it anymore. Now, I'm left with 2. And...just like you. Now I want to get the one I sold back. It's fun to do the search for the hard to find bag. It's like the harder it is, the more I want it.
crazy I know :)

Must stop. Must stop.
