Finally I buy the bag one way or another. When I wait for it to come I feel very happy. However, at the same time, I also start looking around.

I feel like a bag slut!!! When the bag arrives I am usually slightly disappointed, except in rare cases, and I convince myself that it is great, it is what I wanted. I enjoy the bag for a while, but in the meantime I find another and the cycle begins again.

Often I really cant afford another bag, so, I decide which ones will pay for the newbie and once I decide which ones will go I lose all interest in them, and put them into my OTHER closet where the rejects sit, and wait to be sold. So far I have been quite successful selling the "rejects" who once used to be the objects of my desire.

It sounds like you enjoy the hunt most of all. If you are search oriented and want to channel it into something BV related, but without spending money, I have an idea, er, rather a project for you...

We sure could use a list of the BV bags and colors they came in for:
Resort 05/06, Spring/Summer 06, Fall/Winter 06,
Resort 06/07, Spring/Summer 07, Fall/Winter 07,
Resort 07/08, Spring/Summer 08, Fall/Winter 08,
Resort 08/09, Spring/Summer 09, Fall/Winter 09.

So if you want to take on this project, we can publish it in the reference library.

I should have the Rame next week and the Roma about the same time. I got the moro color, I just was not too much into ferro after all, and decided that moro will look more appealing to me. I wear mostly black and some gray and browns, so I hope it will be ok. I just wonder, if I wear a light gray suit with black shoes would moro bag look out of place?
Of course there will be a big reveal after I get my lovely BVs

jburgh, I may disappoint you with this, but I must admit I am very lazy. I get so tired at work, that I cant take on any kind of projects even bag related, unless they result in me actually getting a bag i crave... so i am afraid I will not be of help.....the hunt is only fun when there is a purze awaiting for me at the end... :)

Bichon lover, do you feel that around sunnyvale, milpitas etc there is a trend for really casual dress, and it is really hard to find a place to go out dressed up and armed with all these nice BVs?
I tend to dress up all the time, even to work, and sometimes I get weird looks when I go for a casual dinner all dressed up with my MJs or Prada, except of course at Santana Row... Especially the frame bag I just bought I am so worried that there is really nowere to take it out, because it is so formal... and elegant.. .which is what i like about it the most. I kind of feel overdressed all the time, but I try not to care about what people think. I thought to ask how you feel about it, since I saw your pictures and you always look so beautifully dressed up....

I've always marched to the beat of my own drummer. Santana Row is my 2ND home. I took jburgh there when she visited a few weeks ago and she did some big damage. One of the reasons I love it so much is a lot of women wear dresses there. The food ain't too bad either with all that alfresco dining. I dress everywhere I go and don't worry about it. I also frequent Palo Alto, Los Gatos, Saratoga, Danville and Walnut Creek a lot and the friends I go out with dress too so I'm not alone. I've always been the ONE in my family (20 of us locally) too. LOL It's just me and I'm not going to change for anybody. Just go for it and let them admire you.

BTW I think that frame bag would look fab with jeans, a white shirt and some hot high heels. No need to dress formal with that. I tried on the Nero Bond bag when I was in Carmel a few weeks ago and was wearing jeans and it looked teriffic!

That is so funny, I also like santana row exactly because of that reason. The food is ok, not great, although I like Thea.. I do go to Los Gatos as well, but never been to Walnut Creek, I should check it out!! I completely agree that I wont change for anybody either... Even though I get compliments on my dress all the time, I still worry that people stare, you know, and I always worry they think I look bad... I think people at work although they appreciate my style and compliment me, think that I spend too much!!! Especially my boss, who never shops outside Banana Republic which she considers expensive... anyway, I digress

I think the restaurants are fabulous there. My favorite is Consuelo's but I also like Thea (don't know why they took out the outside tables recently for stools), Left Bank, Village, Straits, Pizza Antica, Maggiano's and Pasta Pomodoro. We take the dogs to Pomodoro and Left Bank all the time. Did you know the same guy owns Thea, El Jardin, Consuelo's and Roux. Haven't tried Roux yet. For Greek food have you tried Dio Deka in Los Gatos? It's the best Greek around :)

People have stared at me all my life and I really don't care what they're thinking. I love people watching, another reason I love SR. Of course there's Anne Fontaine's that is my favorite clothing boutique.

I am just popping into the chat thread.

I was wondering if any of you experienced this kind of strange stressful feeling when you know you must have a bag.... Before I got my Rame med veneta and today the Roma, I had such obsessive desire to get them that I could not concentrate on anything else... I actually started worrying that I am going crazy or something.

I have never been addicted to anything - never smoked, never did any drugs, never even got drunk in my life. I dont even drink cofee. However with bags it has been getting worse and worse this last year.

It usually goes like this: I find a bag that I love, and I start obsessing. It is usually either incredibly expensive for me or out of stock, in other words it is very difficult to get. So I start the search and go crazy either trying to find a cheaper price or trying to find it available somewhere. Then after a while I get so obsessed all I can think of is the bag. Finally I buy the bag one way or another. When I wait for it to come I feel very happy. However, at the same time, I also start looking around.

THis whole time I feel I am on a quest for a perfect brand/bag. It is getting exponentially more expensive every time, but now I am in love with the BV. I want it to be my last stop, because I am so tired of this ride, and just want to have few beloved items I wear for years. So far the only brand I cherish and keep and will never let go is the Ferragamo saffiano collection. The saffiano kelly style bag was my obsession for four years. This was back in time, where 1000 bag seemed impossible to obtain. I pray that BV will be my last stop where I find my loyalty, and stop obsessing. I also made a pledge that I wont buy new bags until I am 35 ( I am 32 turning 33 in two months).

Anyway, I had to share this with somebody, because I hope that may be some of you can relate to this. I am really worried that I am obsessed, what if I am clinically obsessed??? I know we joke about this, but is this healthy?
(I've underlined parts of your post)

I'm sensing that you're not happy about the way your bag obsessing/buying/discarding cycle is going. You say that it's tiring you and it's not always satisfying in the end. If that's the case, and if it worries you, it doesn't sound healthy for you.

You mention that you're usually slightly disappointed when the bag arrives, and the quest continues. I'm guessing this means you are buying bags sight unseen, and the reality of the bag doesn't end up matching the perfection that you had built up in your mind. I can think of two bags that I bought this way that ended up being let-downs, and I decided to break the pattern before it went too far. I tried to convince myself that the bags were great, but I returned one and resold the other at a loss. I knew that if I had seen them in person first, I never would have bought them. Lesson learned! I'm much better off waiting until I can see something in person first. I don't have a BV boutique near me, so the process is a little harder, but if that means I have to forget about a bag because I can't see it first, so be it.

Because you live in the Bay Area, it might help if you were to commit to see a bag before buying. Make time to go to the BV boutique in The City if necessary (if the southern peninsula stores don't have the styles and colors you want to see, that is), and free up your mind until that day. This way you can see and try on the styles and the colors, so your future decisions will be more informed. I made my first trip to a BV boutique a few months ago in London, and it really helped me just to handle a few of the bags in person. There were quite a few items that ended up being very different in reality from my imaginings of perfection! I left without buying anything, but it was still a very useful visit to the shop.

I don't know if this helps any. Bag shopping should be fun, not stressful! Good luck.
