Jane, I like that pattern! I have a go-to pattern I use when I need a baby gift that's very similar. By the way, you take the best pictures. Your composition is so professional.

Super late birthday wishes to jburgh!!

Everyone is so talented here and I love the pictures of your creations - I am with kroquet in feeling left out... When I was in school I used to sew most of my clothes and also knit, crochet, and do needlepoint too - not sure how I used to fit all of that in my days as now pretty much all I can find time to do is work, sleep and a small amount of mindless relaxing with DH and the dogs... maybe spending less time tPFing would give me time to get crafty but I need this to relax!

On another note, has anyone had any experience with their pets and rat poison? Our eldest beagle Booker decided to eat some Wednesday night - we were able to get her to the vet within 10 minutes and they made her throw up and then we gave her charcoal through the night to hopefully absorb anything she didn't throw up. She went back for a blood test 24 hours later to check her Vitamin K levels and depending on that may have to go on Vitamin K supplements for an extended period of time - fingers crossed we got it out in time, though. What a fiasco - I just want her to be okay...

BookerMoose, I don't know much about rat poison at all, but hope Booker gets better soon.

And yeah, I'm totally with you about tPF relaxation.

Hope Booker gets better soon!
Here are 2 items I made, the chocolate shawl I made on a triangle loom, it's woven, not knitted, Alpaca & Wool.
The 2nd is a lace scarf in baby Alpaca, I believe it's called a Cape Cod Shell. I blocked it but may have to block it again in the Fall, my favorite scarf!

Shoulder Update:
Went to the Dr. this morning, not Bursitis, I have a torn Rotator Cuff!!!, Having an MRI (1st ever) to determine the extent of the tear and treatment...

DD's are knitting and crocheting gifts for Daddy's day on Sunday, too cute!

Bookermoose, I hope your dog will be well again soon!

LTBagLady, I'm so sorry to read about your torn rotator cuff. That sounds so painful. Get well soon!

Also, thanks for sharing your shawl photos. The woven one looks so warm! I like the lace one as well. I considered a similar pattern, but I went with the diagonal fishnet because I was using variegated yarn--I didn't want the ombre effect to take away from the lace pattern. About the blocking: how do you do yours? I wet-blocked mine with thick cotton string and pins, but I'm wondering if I would have been better off with fishing line or something. I might have to re-block mine again. The humidity seems to make it shrink (though the clamp hanger helps a little).

I purchased a blocking kit from patternworks. It has long and short thin metal rods. I block it on the ironing board. I inserted the rods along the edges and pinned down with those old fashioned wig pins, spray/mist with Lavendar water and iron with a hot iron on steam setting... Looks great when it is done, but after a winter of abuse and constant wear (I love it), it needs to be done again.

Thanks for the info. If I decide to do more lace shawls/stoles, then I'll consider blocking wires/rods like yours. It sounds like it would be much easier to get the edges done that way, and less of a pain to redo when needed.

LT - You are quite talented too. Love the shawl and the alpaca.

So sorry about your rotator cuff. Must be painful. Sending some hugs your way.
