I was about to take the plunge and order a (continental flap) wallet in nappa, but hesitated after reading some of the threads about the durability of BV wallets. Some of the problems include fading, uneven weaving, splitting corners and tarnished zippers, and they surface after just a couple of months' usage.
I am so upset as I really want a BV wallet. I imagine it is very difficult to baby a wallet like you would a bag as it would be handled many times everyday, so I would want something more hardy. Besides lambskin, would calf or goat skin wallets be more durable? what are the colors available right now?? |

I have two BV wallets. One is a plain woven leather in nero and the other is a nero patent leather combo. I've have no problems with either one. They've held up well with daily use and both are stretched to capacity. I even keep my coins in them. That said, the black dye has stained the suede linings of my bags.

I didn't realize there was a color transfer issue. I guess you could leave the wallet inside the dust bag but not closed for easy access.

I have 2 BV wallets, a Nero Long Tab and an Ebano long zip around, oh and a Matita zip around coin purse.
The 1st 2 are Nappa leather and they look great after months of daily use. I do use a purse organizer so they are not bouncing around in my bag rubbing and bumping with everything else... The Matita coin purse is goat skin = indestructible!! I have not experienced any problems with zippers rusting or getting stuck. The Nappa is not fading, minimal rubbing on the corners which is normal for any wallet. Take the plunge, you will love the BV wallet. I get so many stares and compliments when I pull mine out to pay for something (happens more often than DH would like, lol). They are very elegant pieces! |

All of my wallets have held up well. I change them around every so often too.

I've used my Nero nappa ziparound wallet daily for almost two years and it is holding up wonderfully well - a little rubbing on the corners but no more so than I would expect with any wallet after that period of time. I also have assorted other SLGs and they are all wearing well as well. I haven't noticed any colour transfer from any of them to anything else, except when I briefly carried a Bianco (white) tab wallet - EVERYTHING transferred colour onto it but I then decided I was insane to even contemplate having a white wallet...
Oh, one other thing - I originally thought my Nero ziparound (which I bought on eBay - as there are no BV boutiques anywhere close and the only place here that sells BV doesn't sell BV SLGs) might be a second because the weaving is slightly crooked. It didn't really bother me but I was curious and so I asked about it here and found out that is perfectly normal, but if that is something that would bug you then it is best to buy a wallet IRL from a boutique because then you can check them all out and make sure you get one where the weaving is perfectly lined up. |

I have a BV in the ruggiada black suede black patent weave and its held up great, haven't noticed any color transfer. I want the new double zip wallet, I saw it and its gorgeous, great price, about $550 but it was only available in black, truffle and lilac. I already have a black so maybe when it comes out in new colors.

I have a crimson small tab wallet (smaller than the continental tab or continental flap), and I've used it for a few months. I had durability-type concerns before buying it, but I figure nothing lasts forever, so I went ahead and bought it during the summer sale. My other wallet is built like a tank and is impervious to stains and wear, but I wanted a smaller and lighter-weight alternative (I still use the other one sometimes when I need to hold/organize more stuff).
After a few months of use (about 3x/week), I have no fading that I can see. If anything, the color has deepened. It might be from usage, but it doesn't look dirty, so I'm not unhappy with it. The corners are showing some darkening on the glaze, but I expect that of any wallet. The corners themselves are intact so far. I've only used this wallet inside a handbag with a black interior, so I can't say whether color transfer would be an issue or not. |

I have a wonderful one in limo snakeskin that I have been carrying non-stop for over a year... ok, occassionally, I change out for a day or two, but this one is my workhorse. No problems at all.

I've used mine daily for more than a year now - a turbolence continental flap- and it's still in great condition. There may be slight wearing on the sides of the leather strips but it's really minimal and you have to scrutinise it to see it.
