With my new *evil*

powers as a mod, I can now move posts around. I've been doing some work on the reference library. I moved Satchels out of the Totes/Shopper thread and gave it it's own thread. It seems like BV has more Satchels these days. I added Briefcases to the Totes and Shoppers thread. I'm also deleting posts with non-working links to pictures.

I would like to make two requests:

1. Please post your ideas and thoughts here about the threads in the library. Do we need more? Less? Consolidation? How about the colors? Anything we need to add or delete? Remember, i'm just talking about the Color and Style reference sections. Nothing about a shopping section...we will tackle that much later.

2. Please add your bags to our reference library. Several of us have purchased some great things in the past few months...I don't see them in the library.

Every time I look at that library, it makes me proud. Thank you all so much for your contributions, they are invaluable.

I would like to add to jburgh's request for more photos in the reference section. it is always great to see the new posts and then be able to refer back when there is an authentication question!

for example, the vintage section seems shall we say, light???? and we have had a number of authentication questions on some lovely clutches in the past couple days alone!

one idea might be to consolidate all the care threads somehow. there are always questions related to this....

yay jburgh on the job!

On the reference section - I think it would be great to add an overview of all styles within the style reference section (e.g. with all style names, dimensions, weights, authenticity indicators, etc.), and also an overview of all colors within the color reference section (similar to the current "Colors" thread but perhaps a bit more cleaned up - e.g. take out extraneous posts/text, and also organize colors by year). The Balenciaga board has good examples of both of these, if they are useful... I'm sure many of us would be willing to help, as well...

Also - perhaps I could make a plug for adding to the BV stickies as well? For example, I think "deals and steals" and "authentic online stores/sellers" stickies would be great additions to the board!

How about an area similar to what is on Hermes like Bottega Veneta Shopping. This would include ebay/website finds, etc. In addition, people could start threads listing additional information that they have found or received regarding the availability of bags at certain boutiques and stores.

We will tackle a shopping section later. How do you feel about the actual Style and Color sections now?

Style and colors look fine to me. Down the road can we think about adding a place for the different leathers and how to care for them? I didn't see that anyplace. Maybe, I'm just not finding it.

Not sure why this happens .. but Photobucket photos go away after a while?? .. and for reference library especially, we want photos to stay.

I know some other forums have threads in the reference library that consolidate the style, dimension and similar information for all of the styles in one place. They also do a similar thing showing the colors by season. Unfortunately I'm not sure either would work very well for BV given that the colors seem so much more complicated and so many of the styles don't have names, etc. But it would be useful if we could figure out how to do it.

Other useful parts of other reference libraries I have experienced elsewhere, and which I think would be helpful for BV as well, are comparison photos of different items (like the couple of awesome threads that are going on right now), information about care and maintenance, information about different leathers, and similar things like that. Sometimes the best way to consolidate that information and keep it available moving forward is to enable people to post new threads with questions or information they come across in the Reference Library rather than in the main forum.
