Default Let's be frank...
Upon shopping, I found the Veneta was the most comfortable style Shoulder bag. I preference "Shoulder" because it fit over my shoulder without any slippage or snug. While the Sloane bag is beautiful, I am not sure if the wide base is all that comfortable. Even if it breaks in, it is still a wide base. The one bag that I found I loved and was so soft and comfortable was what I think is called the box stitch. It's long, flat. Has a snap closure, one strap. It was on the blog a few days ago. I love it but I don't think it's classic enough to wear dressed up. I know it isn't but it by far is a great fit! Any suggestions?

I dont' have the Hobo, but I have owned the Veneta. The Veneta is extremely comfortable and easy to carry but I found the Med a tad too small & the large a tad too big... The Sloane has issues but you learn to live with them... she is so beautiful, you forgive...
I have the Bella tote and find her P E R F E C T!!! The magnetic closure eliminates the open tote 'issue'. I don't know the 'box stitch' bag you mention above...

that's the cervo hobo! i just got mine and have not worn her yet, but she is by far the next most comfortable bag besides the veneta. but i find that the hobo is more casual where the veneta can be dressed up or down~

I have the Cervo Hobo and it does stay on the shoulder nicely, but nothing beats the Veneta. The Cervo Hobo is more casual, IMO.

U see? That's what I'm saying. The sales person at Saks told me I would be better off with the Veneta and get much more use out of it but the way the other bag fit was, I thought, far superior!! However, as I asked people in the store for their opinions, they all agreed with the sales person. It was in a yellow/gold color and while that color goes with everything, I would have prefered a more "fall" color so I am waiting until I am 100%.

You should buy what YOU love! Or, better yet, buy both!!

People love what they love. There have been lengthy threads regarding the sloane, campana, etc, etc. - do they work, yes or no... For me, nothing drapes and wears like a large veneta. I find that it can go to all but the most dressy occassions, and by having one in a different skin, like my karung, or ostrich milano veneta it becomes more of a statement - as do the metallics (armaturas and rame) and the ottone. It is so versatile, appreciated for it virtues by most, but not universally loved. For me, it is the ideal bag, in terms of weight, balance drape and security. I even think that you could carry the mini or med in something other than nappa as an evening bag. And while it does not have the exclusivity of the cabat or LE bags, it is none the less an icon, immediately recognizable.

Take your time deciding!

I say buy what you love, not what the sales ladies tell you. You're the one who has to wear it day after day and feel comfortable with it. Personally, the veneta medium was too small on me if I wore it with a coat and the large was a bit too wonky with just a t-shirt. I probably need a medium and a half, or a medium with more shoulder room. I think the Sloane is probably one of those bags that gets its true shape and becomes more comfortable after wear. In store, the bags are filled with paper, so I always remove it before trying on the bag. It's really hard to tell if it will work for me otherwise.

The box stitch seems to be more casual, but if that's your lifestyle, go for it!

Try on as many styles as possible and good luck finding the right one!

Large Veneta is a heaven for me. I've never had a hobo style of bag in my life but I just grew my love with it. Same thing goes into my bag... the one in Large veneta is obviously much "lighter" than my old Pyramid which draws the frequent numbers of time that I carry my Large Veneta.

Most HK ladies carry Medium Veneta with their slim build. I am more of a size 14 ~ 16, still a Large Veneta look a bit big on me, with the width of the bag... I've been bumped into many times in a busy city like HK. But I still love the size of Large veneta as it just barely fit all my daily junks in :P

Ok. So today I visited the BV store and fell in love with the Large Veneta and Noce Sloane! Now I finally have a decision to look forward to! The Veneta was in Nero and the Sloane was in a versatile (all year) Noce - I hope I'm spelling the "nut" color correctly. It had variations in the color and was not the same color in the Veneta style. I loved it with black brown, spring, fall. Here is the TRUE dilema. I just have enormous expenses right now and have to tighten the reigns. Oh well! Like I said, something for me to look forward to!

The cervo hobo is a bit casual but I love it!! It's so light weight and has two big pockets inside. It seems to me that you are going to end up buying more than one BV, so I recommend that you go ahead and buy the cervo hobo!!

Wait! I took a collection of everyone's advice and phoned a Neiman Marcus who has the BV Veneta on sale in what she says is a tan color. Anyone have any idea what color that can be? I asked her if it was golden and she thought it looked like a light brown. I'm baffled. She is calling it the medium but said it retails for $1950 which means it's the large. It is on sale for $1460 includes tax. What do all of you think? I talked myself out of the cervo hobo because if I'm going to make an "investment" purchase, meaning, if I am buying the bag as something I plan on wearing for many years to come and perhaps pass down to one of my daughters' then, I think I am best purchasing a classic Veneta or Sloane and since this Veneta is on sale, I am wondering. Or - do I wait for the fall and wait for a fall color? I love dark eggplant, purple!

Could you ask the SA to provide the code on the back of the cert. of auth. tag that is inside the side zip pocket? The last 4 numbers on the first line are the color code -- then someone here could tell you the color. It might be cinnamon? If you want a forever bag, you might want to go with a darker color that will be easy to keep clean...

Thank you Shih Tzu lover! I tend to agree with you. (BTW, I own a brown/white Norman Lewis Shih Tzu and she is the love of my life!) 86198C Were the last numbers the SA quoted me. Do you think you could figure out what color that is? I agree. I think I would prefer Nero or a coffee bean brown or very dark eggplant, almost black with purple hues would be gorgeous! But, hey! At 33% off? I plan to think about it.
