Default Just Got My First BV, But I Have a Question
I live in the Washington DC area, which was hit yesterday by some wicked storms, including more than a few tornadoes. Luckily, my son was home, and rescued my brand new Carminio New Ball from the side door where the delivery man left it just minutes before the storms hit.

We still have no power at home, so I can't take any pictures, but did have a quick question I wanted to ask: the purse came without any receipt, controllato card, or any other documentation. I have the mirror and the dustbag, but really expected authentication cards similar to what I get with Balenciaga and other bags.

Is this usual or should I contact BV?

Thanks! I'll post pictures as soon as I can. In the meantime, if anyone is hungry, come see me. I have two refrigerators totally loaded with food from a party we gave on Sunday. Without power, anything not eaten today will have to be thrown away. So, come on over!....

Where did you order yours? I got my two Venetas from the BV website and did phone orders. My bags came with three brown envelopes--a small one containing info on leather care, a medium one containing the matching mirror and a big containing a receipt, a label, and a card with info on returns and other stuff.

I ordered mine from the Atlantic City Bottega Veneta boutique. They were sold out, but had it shipped from the Chicago BV boutique. Guess I'll have to call and look into it.

Sometimes the cards are lost..same thing happens to the mirrors. One of my bags didn't come with cards. Nicole from the Atlantic City store had arranged for the bag to be shipped from another store, much like your situation. When I asked her about the missing cards, she said the only important documentation is the tag sewn into the bag

Kathy, I just realized we're bag twins. We had the same storms in Maryland but fortunately I didn't lose my power. Many here are still without electricity too. I hope you had a pleasant experience dealing with the AC store. I have found them very helpful.

LLANeedle, I didn't realize you were in Maryland. I'm pretty sure it was your recommendation in a thread a few weeks ago about good SAs that led me to Nicole Rao and BV AC and, yes, she was terrific. I was being characteristically indecisive, and where a lot of SAs would have just figured I was wasting their time, she realized I was a serious buyer who simply needed to be sure I knew what I was doing before I plunked down that much money, and hung in there with me.

I must say, on a slightly different subject, that I'm astonished that the postal service put my bag on my exposed porch when severe storm warnings and tornado watches were being posted around the area. Certainly, I don't expect them to have realized the cost of the item they were shipping, but I wouldn't have thought they'd put ANYTHING out in an open area like that in the kind of weather we were expecting (and ultimately experienced) that afternoon. My son rescued the bag with literally 5 minutes to spare before the skies opened up. Ah well.

I thought that BV only shipped with signature required (I know that because I waited at home all afternoon) - you should check with your UPS - it sounds like they made a mistake.
Nicole helped me too, she acted as if she had all the time in the world to help me, I really was impressed with her customer service.

My ferro sloane was shipped during the holidays UPS, signature required, and they left the box out in a snow/sleet storm less than 20 feet from a covered porch, obviously no one here to sign for it. And the words "signature required" were large and bold across the box.

Yep, I was told that a signature would be required as well. Maybe everybody just got a little sloppy yesterday in their hurry to get things delivered and get home before the storms hit. I know that I certainly left my office in a huge hurry.

I called the power company from my office a couple of hours ago, and got a recorded message saying that I could expect power to be restored in my neighborhood tomorrow night! I was in the midst of calling hotels when I found out that power is back on. Yay! So, I guess since I seem to have power, and I have my pretty BV safe and sound, I'll try not complain!

You should have a receipt for your bag. BV's cards aren't like Chanel (not sure what Balenciaga's are like) which have a unique number on a plastic card that matches an interior tag. Their cards are paper, in little envelopes. One will say something about the leather. Another just has the numbers 1,2,etc thru 0. The cards have been the same with every recent BV I've bought--no idea what they mean. You won't get an "ID" card like some other brands provide.

That weather was scary! Our son's family lives between McLean and Falls Church. Glad you're ok!
