Hey gals!
Just wanted your quick advice whether it is suitable for my age. Im turning 21 soon, so I decided to get a bag for my bday (cobalt maxi) but none of the girls in my age group own BV or even heard of it...They're all into LV, miu miu, mbmj..but I've grown tired of them, especially LV..not unless ur shelling out over 3000 and then you'd get quality material. I got to know BV because my mom loves their soft and high quality leather..and so she made me hope onto the bandwagon! but is it too much for my age??Anyways, i would appreciate any advice!! |

I do not think so at all.
Some of their styles might be a bit "mature" but many pieces are very chic and look great at any age. Personally, my favorite bag is the sloane. I love the fact that it's unstructured, drapes beautifuly and is quite young and bohemian IMO!! And of course not to mention craftsmanship. Also, if you look at the celeb pgs you will see how many younger stars wear BV and it does not at all look too mature |

Do you want to stand out from the crowd or do you want to be different but just like everybody else? But seriously, I think that maxi Veneta is a perfectly appropriate bag for a young woman, especially if it's in a bright color such as burnt orange or cobalt. Look at all the young celebrities carrying BV.
Why waste money on all the other bags if your mom has shown you the inside track to true quality? BV is epitome of understated luxury. It's for people who don't need to carry a label/others approval. Your own name is enough, isn't it? |

Cobalt Veneta would be perfect for your age. Congrats and your Mom taught you well!

Absolutely not! I agree with the others that there are some bags that might look too mature but the venetas, sloanes and the pyramids are young, chic and classic bags that you will be able to carry well until your 50s. Great choice on the cobalt too - it is young and fresh.

I agree.. It is better to own an understated luxury bag that shows style and self-confidence. I foresee that you'll be surpassing your mom with your bag purchases very soon!

I think it depends on the bag and your personal style. Heck, there are young women your age who rock the Chanel caviar flap, and it doesn't get more "mature" than that bag IMO.

I won't be able to post a modeling pic for a while. Here is a lovely photo of the large from True Fidelity. The maxi probably looks similar on me as the Large does on her adorable DD:

My 10.5 yr old is begging for a Mini Veneta in Azure. I have taught her well, she loves the feel of the leather and the vibrant color! No I am not buying it for her...
but I will let her borrow my BVs in about 6 years...

Your mum is doing you (and your wallet) a huge favour. BV will increase your CHIC factor a hundred fold. The questions is - Will you do the bag justice by being as classy, elegant and beautiful..? (like the BV experts in this forum - the best of the entire TPF, IMO) "Ask not what your bag will do for you, but what you can do for your bag - HAHHAHA." I have seen some teenagers carry the Chanel Jumbo flap and behaving in such a way that I can feel their bags blushing. I'm sure you are going to be the STAR among them as it seems your mother has certainly taught you well! (talk about judging a woman by her bag!)

Definitely not too young. I'm 28 and have been in love with BV for years.... but have only been able to afford them recently. The cost is probably why you don't see more on people in their early 20s. They're just that much more expensive than some of the other luxury brands.
BV is timeless and you really can't go wrong. I actually like the brand because it's classic and a lot of younger people that I know and work with don't know the value of what I'm carrying (as they might with an LV or Prada). But if you want something a little bit more recognizable and hip, you should also take a look at Balenciaga. Bv and Balenciaga are my two favorites. |
