Longchamp - I have such travel envy!!! I have been dying to go to a country where I can see penguins!!! South Africa perhaps, or taking a tour off the coast of Argentina...
Your travels sound devine, especially Polar bear viewing!!! I also love Paris, but much prefer the south of France, especially the provence region, I try to go there every year. And the food in Thailiand is definitely TDF!!! |

One of the physicians I work w/ is an MD on board the ship for penguin viewing. He goes 1-2xyear, and let me tag along once.
Antarctica best for this. |

Oh sure. When I'm researching a trip, my two favorite places are Fodors and Trip Advisor. The travel talk forum on Fodors is the best. Other travelers have great suggestions. Can read their posts or ask a question yourself and soon someone will answer. But just like here need to review what was already said to avoid duplication.

Most definitely!!! I am obsessed with penguins, have pictures of them everywhere! My dream is to see them up close and personal one day and hubby (who is a nature photographer and documentary film maker) has promised to take me.... am hoping it will be soon...

^^No kidding, where would we be without zippers??? No jeans, tight boots, Veneta, the list could go on for miles.

Indeed. Also, I read in the Hermes (comic) book that Emile Hermes brought zippers to France after the WWI and introduced them when they started making their now legendary bags and slgs. So, without your grandfather, Hermes might have not been here as it is now.

wow, you gals have been very kind and warm and friendly about my reveal. Have always been very hush hush about it and if you were sitting w/ me now, I wouldn't have told you. But since I don't know you, then I felt okay.
I hope that makes some sense. His name is Gideon Sundback and he was originally from Sweden and had his engineering office in St. Catherine's Ontario. The factory was called Talon--I'm sure you heard of that and was opened in Meadville PA. But the original zipper was called the hookless fastener. He sold the patent to the zipper and now, very rarely see a Talon zipper. YKK had the rights for a long time and so many zippers now are YKK. When my Dad died I looked down at the body bag that he was put in--I know sounds morbid, but I do that for a living and saw a plastic YKK zipper. I said to myself, OMG, he's rolling over in his grave already. Thanks for listening. Susan But will say my Dad taught me to use my money wisely, so even though I love the Cabats, still taking my time to pick out the right one. |

I made a dress one time in HS and when it was time to sew the zipper in, I practiced and it was perfect. My teacher thought that my Mom had done it for me, since I mangled the one for my dress. It was a Talon zipper. That much I do remember.
Susan, what an interesting family story. Those are always the best. |
