I'm trying to decide on a color for the montaigne I'm about to purchase. How practical do you view the turbulence? I love the color but would love to be able to use it beyone this season.

I have a pleated veneta in turbolence and I live in the mid atlantic area where summers are hot and muggy. I took the bag out for a one day spin this summer but felt it was a color better suited to fall and winter. If I were to buy a montaigne (just my opinion mind you) I'd got for noce. I think it's a perfect go with everything color and it's seasonless. Bookermoose has several montaignes in different colors...maybe she'll weigh in on this?

I've only got a wallet in turbolence. I absolutely
the colour but it does seem to be more for winter. IMHO it's a great colour for accessories but if you want a bag you can use every season I definitely agree with LLANeedle that noce is a great colour. From trawling this forum I know Bookermoose is the montaigne queen so I'm sure she has some great advice to give. HTH

I also have the pleated Veneta in Turbolence. But we have overcast weather a lot. It seems that this color is a 3 season wear out here in the PNW. Have you thought about Baltic? That is a lovely blue-grey. Are you interested in a color, versus a neutral? If it available in the Eclipse, red is for every season. Better yet, Carmino, if you can find one.

This can be 2 questions.
First, is the color a year-round color? Maybe it's not the best for warmer seasons. Second, will the color look out-of-date after this fall/winter season? I believe it will hold up beyond this year. It's not a bright, flashy color, but more subdued, yet pretty, and should still look stylish in years to come. JMO. |

Hi xlawson. If you love the Turbolence I say go with it! I think it is restrained enough that it could easily be used just beyond this one season - maybe not in the heat of summer (depending where you live) but I don't think it would be considered a trendy colour that will look "soooo 2008" in a couple of years from now...
If you want a more neutral colour I don't think you can go wrong with any of BV's classic neutral colours - nero (black), ebano (dark chocolate brown) or noce (medium caramel brown). I have Montaignes in both nero and noce and I love them both. But if you want something with some pop then Turbolence is certainly a good option, or the Baltic blue also from this fall. I don't think the US BV boutiques are carrying any other seasonal colours in the Montaigne this fall - but elsewhere (including BlueFly for the Torrent) you might be able to find either a Torrent (darker green) or Eclipse (red) Montaigne that are also nice pops of colour but still somewhat restrained. jburgh mentioned Carmino from last fall - that is also an amazing true red that is a bit more bright and poppy than Eclipse, but it was really popular so finding a Montaigne in that is probably going to be much harder (but worth it if you do). Good luck - IMHO you can't go wrong with ANY colour of the Montaigne!! |
